' Wrote:$5/$10 ain't that much... I spend $5.36 on Red Bull on Mondays and that's only for one day, $10 for... forever is nothing.

You are very right, 5$ - 10$ a month 120$ or 60$ a year is not that much. But it is just one more bill that I, personally, would not wish to pay. I would have to re-set up pay pal and it becomes a big mess of things to remember. Some people may not know how to do this, or, as this is a family based server for the most part, how many parents would allow their kids to do such?

Edit: Even 5$ to essentially, buy the shiny new "Discovery Freelancer Mod" would turn into a very problematic situation.

Donations are another matter, for those who feel strongly about helping the community out then donate! Donate 10 bucks per month or by the year to lend a hand.

But making this Mod a Pay per month or something that you need to buy, in my opinion, would kill discovery.

I wasn't suggesting a monthly fee, my prior post stated "one-time" very clearly. That would help with server hosting for a little while, but it's not intended to cover it, more to deter the lolwutters.

I apologize to Zack for misreading his post, however the point of forcing people to pay anything, stands.

Hmm... this is true. New players who haven't played the game would be a little mad. Perhaps the "local" servers (USA, UK, etc) would remain free to use? Just throwin' around ideas, tbh

Fair enough mate.:)

The only problem would be however, if all the other Discovery servers minus GC were free, what would it do to the GC Member base?

I don't want to go about killing your ideas at all, I think that if people are passionate about this MOD they will fork over some cash to help out, with out being forced to do so.

Talk about yourself mate , living in the US ... Where I live, somewhere in the middle of nowhere , $10 is like what I pay for food for 4 days ... so please note that not everyone has the financial background to pay for everything ... not everyone is rich or a kid of rich parents ...

I don't think I could afford to pay a regular fee. I've donated to the server every now and again what I had, but I'm saving up for university, and of course...

what about the BOOZE?!?!?!

All joking aside, if Freelancer became pay to play I would most likely leave.

Perhaps it was my perspective, I'm not rich by any means, I fall into lower-middle-class in the USA, but I'd be willing to pay for this. That also might've been from months and months of paying $60/month for WoW, I personally think this game is worth much, much more than a one-time 'registration' fee of $5. I'm pretty sure the only "community members" you'd lose would be the people who just want to pirate some people to make themselves feel better, not the people who RP.

Like I said, one-time only. Pay to set yourself apart from all the lolwuts who just want to get some giggles once a week.

*edit* Note: This is all me just being hypothetical, I have no sway over what happens here beyond my opinions >.>

We'll never charge for people to play here - apart from the legal issues - we're not that kind of community. We may need to survive from donations but this is a different thing and there are enough people, me included, that will not let the server disappear.

This is but a temporary outage - nothing more.
