If you are supposed to be red against both Outcasts and Corsairs, as military for instance, but have a bad habit of picking on one side, due to being stationed in a certain place, then you may eventually end up green with one side. Kind of silly.

However, there can be decent RP reasons for an unlawful ship to dock on police bases for instance.

1) Smuggling drugs.

2) Ransom money.

3) Busting your mates out of jail.

4) Funding terrorists on-planet.

5) Infiltration. (This is hard...)

Add more below!

I agree... And the tag can be disgarded by failing missions, no killing required. I don't care about the tag as much as the ID, but when I see a police tag and a pirate id... that just su**s.

Maybe we should make it definitive as to which ships each faction is allowed to fly?

I mean, I am a new player on RP and wish to abide by the rules, but I find it hard sometimes to draw the line between a police ship and a military ship for example.

To avoid confusion completely, and to give no excuse to those who do fly 'unRP' ships, I reckon that a list (if there is not one already?) should be made.

Just my two cents...:)

There are varying degrees of detail here. Discovery is quick to pick up but longer (much longer) to master. It can sometimes be difficult to get and keep your ships tag to the faction to which you belong. ID's are far easier to get with a few missions or bribes.

Dedicated RP-ers will take the time and effort to get both right and good on 'em. Mainstream RP-ers (in which I include myself BTW) will strive to get both right but not at the expense of sometimes precious time online away from 'real life' and 'real factors (the wife lol)'. The way I see it is at the bottom of the scale are the 'Whats-RP-ers?' who seem to build up cash, buy the biggest, gunniest ship and nuke everyone with no regard to what type of ship they have, what, if any ID they carry and have no incling of the tag shown online to others during the game. It is these loosers that I believe Hoodlum is refering to who as he points out have no regard to where they go or what they do. Why don't we start a thread of naming and shaming (characters over level 40) them?

Slow down boys, I was saying that you DO stick to RP, and take no sh*t from those that don't. Apologies if
it sounded the other way round. Trouble with trying to get points over in the shortest possible space so we
don't have to wade through another half a page of arguments.
I know Koolmo and Axe have little time for those who would use ships that don't fit their reps, and I presumed
you didn't either. Apologies for the misunderstanding. Good roleplay ship excuses are thin on the ground.
Shimmer, there are no specific rules governing which ships go with what, just good old fashioned common
sense, and a little brain power.
Pretty damn obvious a policeman would not be in a position to get hold of an Outcast Destroyer for example,
the NPCs in that position fly LFs and HFs in game, and do not stray from their respective houses. If you are
in any doubt as to which ships would be considered 'OOC', please PM me anytime, and I will endeavour to
explain. I'm sure any of the longer standing players would be prepared to field questions in this respect also.
I like to help, what I don't like are those who think its not their problem, and refuse to listen to suggestions
as to why they are a little out of character. We shouldn't need rules for this ...

This can be corrected mod-side. All ships can require full reputation with the faction that sell them. In this way the character will have the tag when he buy a ship. Same for weapons. A radical solution, but better than to impose sanctions.

Wolf fella that would restrict the game as a whole. Discovery offers so much to so many...that's its beauty. Here in RP it refines what the game has to offer and tries to make it follow 'credable' story lines. Its voluntary. You can have the game and play RP and even PvP without changing anything of the game code, why restrict the gameplay for everyone when its only the few who are unable to play with respect to for the RP server they are on?

Yeah Wolf, that is an option, and as rightly pointed out, a radical one ... Shame if we did have to restrict
the whole thing because of those wishing to spoil it for others.
It does work for weapons very well, and so it should. Igiss has made a whole bunch of faction specific
weps because of the call for them, though people still try to get round that one.
Ships ... Trouble is the Zoners would have to be selling a big bunch of the mothers, because there are
still a lot not tied to one faction either.
Sort of hoped we would hear from the named characters, but it would appear Yngen was dead right ...
Ah well, back to the drawing board.

It's very hard to fix the good tag, i mean the same tag that match with the ID. I have the Outcast ID but my tag is Hacker. And I tried and I tried. I had kruger tag, blood dragons, CD, junker, red hessians and now lane hacker but never outcast (lol).

And, in the rules, if I understood well, we have to scan the player's ID before any hostile action. Is it true ?

ps : you know, I'm a french canadian and it's possible that i don't catch some language subtlety. Excuse me !

' Wrote:I agree.
RP align must not be disregarded. But keeping the right tag is complicated.
Even I have an Asgard ship with zoner ID and corsair tag. Even when I got all correctly set up, killing so many BHG NPC made the corsairs love me...
And let alone my Gaian ship with merc ID and Police tag. Dunno how that one messed up. I guess i took the wrong bribe at some point...

I have the outcast ID, outcast ship and I did and I do only outcast missions but I cannot have the outcast tag. I tried and I tried. Why, I don't know. Maybe that the outcast have the same (+ or -) allies and ennemies that hackers, Bloody dragon...

If you can tell me the solution, I'll be happy !!! ;-)

I think it's not a real problem if the tag faction is near the id faction (like my situation). But, I agree, it's a problem if you a have a bounty hunter tag and have a outcast id.

Take missions for the factions ahead of the one you want... and then abort them.

The easiest way is to drop the reps ahead of your preferred tag and then fail enough missions on your current tag to get into the white area. When you leave base next time, it will show the rep change.

You think that's difficult? Try Guard tag!

I agree with Hoodlum and share his point of view.

At the moment, I am flying an armed transport with police ID and a lib.police tag.
I will be setting up a viper, soon to get my fun with nomad hunting.
My rp will be, to be part of a special force, degending against nomads and cylons.
I'm working hard on what id or tag I shall wear - only thing I know is: it'll be lawful.
I would like to continue wearing the lib.police-tag, but flying a viper leaves a bad taste
in my mouth, cause it's no liberty-ship.
And it is no other factions ship - so.
Problem is, I want the viper. I don't want to make a compromising step.
It will be a bit of thinking, but it will be worth it.

(btw. any idea ?)
