Disc is broken

Most dedicated game stores have in store scratch repair machines, that are usually relatively cheap. a few bucks, and it buffs down the disc to remove the scratches. Depending on how nice the person is, they'll only charge you if it works, no matter how many times you put it through.

If they're charging by the buff, only to it once or twice. Might as well find a cheap copy on EBay or sommat at that point.

It's freelancer.. it's like really old. lol

EDIT: I own the disc. It's just scratched.

If I recall correctly, it is legal for you to get a virtual copy (in the form of the game's CD image, for example) if you own the original game on CD...

Toothpaste is a mild abrasive that can sometimes fix a scratched disc if it's not too damaged and you apply it carefully. I think Boss wrote some instructions on how to do it somewhere, I'll see if I can dig it up.

Edit:

Toothpaste. Seriously. Spread a bit of it around the whole thing and rub lightly with one finger in little circles as you go around the disc. Then wash it off and pray it works.

Toothpaste has a very mild abrasive in it that can clean up some of the scratches.

Never used a CD to play disco though.
