For the single fact that ive played this game for nearly 4 years and im still not bored with it, no other game as lasted that long, all the mods help though.

god I love that game. Also on my list of faves are....

Rollercoaster Tycoon (You never forget your first love)
Red Alert 2 + Yuri Revenge (I retain that this is still the best C&C)
Mercenaries (Mindless carnage with military hardware. People argue with me when I say it is better than a GTA)
GTA- all (I still can't deny that these are fun)
Conker's Bad Fur Day (A classic, the Remake is fun too)

Deus Ex for sure.
FPS/RPG with a dash of startegy thrown in.
The plot is amazing, with many twists (although many were rather predictable, others weren't)
The weapons were varied, and you could customize your character to take on different paths through the levels.
The AI isn't bad, and the guys will hunt you rather tenaciously if you are detected. I recently found a link to some graphical upgrade mods, that don't make my eyes bleed. Oh, and the damage not only varied depending on where you are hit, you can actually lose the use of limbs if they take too much damage. Lose a leg, and you walk slower and can't run; lose both and your forced to crawl. losing one arm hurts your aim and reload time, while both prevents you from holding weapons or tools...

Very cool.

Nexus and Ghost Cat, maybe you'd best try System Shock 2.:)
It's a mixture of ego shooter and rpg, too. And the atmosphere is just... enveloping. Spooky.
The graphics are rather outdated, but the sound effects and "music" more than make up for that.

Bit of a gap between my post and the last but after reading through, alot of people like the same games as me so I thought I would add my own list.


I don't think I have a single best game, although alot of the games posted here by other people would feature in a list of my best games. I think its a shame that alot of software houses go for graphics before gameplay now, theres alot of really stunning graphics out there and yet the games are finished in an hour or so.

I'll post a couple of my best here. I see from reading through the forum that alot of people like some of the older games from the amiga I still play some of these from time to time with an emu.
So I'll start with the amiga.

Wings, This to me was an excellent game, gets you right into the action.
Secret of monkey Island 1 & 2, quality gaming the music on this game is still stunning imo.
UFO Enemy unknown (and the other games from this series) lots to do in it, lots of play time.
Sensible world of soccer 96/97 finishes of my amiga games.



PS1, got to include Final fantasy VII, this would be in my top 3 best games. FF VIII was ok but i never enjoyed FF IX. a couple other not bad games on ps1 that I can't remember.

PS2,

Gran Turismo, I like this series I don't usually play racing games but I liked this one.
Grand theft Auto all of them, Loads to do yet again, lots of play time.
I used to like the Fifa series but the newer versions of Pro Evoltution were better imo.
Red dead revolver, is another one I liked, The final fantasy series is good but FF VII is still teh best imo


I don't have a ps3 yet because I'm content to wait until the very silly price of it comes down to a price that I find reasonable.


Sega, The wonderboy games, great fun.

Spectrum, I have to include the ZX spectrum for sentiments sake, I can't recall what games I liked on it but I can assure you that "Horace goes skiing" isn't one of them hehe. I seem to remember "The warlock of Firetop mountain" being the first Rpg I played on a computer, I think it was on the spectrum.

The PC would hold my biggest list.

Fallout 1&2, Fallout Tactics
UFO aftermath/Aftershock/Afterlight (Great fun and even though the company denies it, based on the original UFO games from the amiga).
Deus Ex
Call of Duty 1&2, great games and great fun online especially when my brother is playing and I get to shoot him lots:D
Soldiers of Anarchy
The total war games.
World of warcraft.

Guildwars-prophecies, the new additions are far to easy and finished quickly for my tastes. E.G. guildwars nightfall, finished after 3 days from release date, not really a good way to spend ?30 imo

the list goes on.

I would like to include freelancer here as obviously we all like it, but If I'm honest, Looking at the game without any mods then it wouldn't feature in my best games as theres just too many issues with the original game,

Thankfully Discovery has sorted alot of these issues so it would be the discovery mod that would feature here not the original FL game

Believe it or not, there is no best game for me. I do, however devote my time to both Freelancer and Silkroad the most:P

Deus Ex is actually, if I am not mistaken, either out of 2, or Out of god. I cant remember is Deus is god or 2:Pthen again, Amadeus is a name given to one who loves god. And Caesar (Yes, like Julius Caesar [Which is pronuciated like Yulious Kaizer]) actually translate to curly.:)My 2 roman coins.
