What would we achieve with much quicker deaths of caps?
Let's see...
They get pushed back much faster, because the player count is still the same, but their hitpoints are much lower? Bomberspam is much more effective?
Who knows...?
And, "we" are supposed to be NPCs, do they have AUs? :X
EDIT: It's just a suggestion. You don't have to "stone" me for it... ._.
Wait, why are people suggesting that caps die more quickly?
For the short period of time I was at the event today, every cap involved was dying within seconds, faster with focused fire from the enemy. Fighters and bombers, on the other hand, can survive multiple engagements without a scratch.
Caps already die too quickly, this has been a problem on the main server for a long time now. Fighter furballs can last for hours, cap battles are almost always over within minutes regardless of the skill level of the players involved.
The only reason my cap has survived without any deaths so far on this event is because I'm playing it safe, staying at max range and retreating when necessary. Then again, I'm not getting as many kills as the others, but I have a plan for my ship, RP-wise, and I wont let it die yet.

For the most part, NPC's dont use supernovas or mortars either. Our heavy hitting weapons in this mod were designed to be used against opponents that have armor upgrades, if you take out the upgrades you get an overpowered weapon and underpowered target.
Just as a stoking of anticipation - Josh from DiscoUK is working on about 25GB of movie files right now. When things slowed down a bit earlier tonight, we did a staged combat event, where the BHG took control of the Minor Jumphole. Thanks to everyone who played along with that - hopefully we'll have some great videos!

The thing about caps with giant armors is that the only thing which can kill them quickly is other caps with the same big armors. If a SN hits a Battleship with its shields down, and it does 1/30 of hull damage to said Battleship, of which there are 12 more, there is no incentive to play a bomber. Without anyone playing bombers, there is no incentive to play a fighter or a Gunboat. The only things which are really useful at that point are Cruisers, Battlecruisers, and Battleships and that's all anyone is really going to fly.
This is hardly representative of a fleet battle. If bombers will do more damage to caps, more people will fly them. It wouldn't even hurt the cap's ability to fight each other, either. If there is a reduction of armor across the board, then it's the same balance as if everyone has Cap VIIIs. You can even skip out on the Mortars and Pulses this way, too. It'd be even more NPC-esque if everyone just had full primaries and secondaries.
Really, I can't see an argument for cap VIIIs at this point...
[8:32:45 PM] Dusty Lens: Oh no, let me get that. Hello? Oh it's my grandma. She says to be roleplay.
[12:49:19 AM] Elgatodiablo: You know its nice that you have all that proof and all, Bacon... but I just don't believe you.
I don't care who's flying what or what guns they have; I JUST WANT TO SEE MORE PEOPLE THAN 19.
Last I checked, the Hunters had more caps than the order. Somebody go fix that...
