If the enemy docks and comes out re-supplied during a battle, well then he's re-engaging.
But if you are fighting some of his allies and let him wander off and mysteriously come back with more regens that is still re-engaging if he went more than 10K.
Best thing to do is to shoot the repair ship just to be on the safe side. Otherwise it's not worth talking about. And getting evidence gets easier. Ship A was attacked, Ship A docked/left area, Ship A undocked/came back, Ship A messing around the battle again.
Telling them to stop doing it in a PM is of course always 5000% better than filling & filing a violation report form. Remember to ask nicely:)
Jinx, I don't think you play nearly enough on this server to understand what exactly is going on. When was the last time you logged in with something other than your Juggernaut?
No, it's not fine, if someone is aiding your opponent, he's automatically entering combat, and if he flees he cannot return. If that 'someone' is battleship.. well, you can see where I'm coming from. You can have good roleplay and fairplay at the same time, you know, don't need to ruin it because of 'odds'. This stuff happens, and it's not cool. It's low. Yeah, very low.

2 hours ago - had a fight with my BHG, yesterday - was pirting with my pirate ( oh - and today, too ). - my online time with my jug happens only when i m passivly following chats and events.
just cause you don t see / know my other chars doesn t mean i m not around.
bot feeing happened to me quite often - and you know what... i simply back away and retreat. - when the odds shift away from what i consider "acceptable" i disengage and log out. yes, its a pvp death by the rules... but so what - my char almost NEVER died ... i don t win any daring battles... but i rarely die - and thats what counts from my chars point of view.
last time one of my chars died was my pirate that got owned by a bomber ( flying a gunboat ) - tough luck, the other guy just hit me with every single SN he fired - and that was over 5 months ago - ( and no, i m online regularly ... i just do not enter fights i can hardly win - and i exit fights that turn against me - i get very few blue messages... but who cares for them )
Trading regens in a fight is involving yourself as much as if you start shooting. As long as you don't start docking or running to 10+ to refill, it's perfectly legal. Kind of a weak tactic and bothersome in my eyes as fighters and bombers in this mod are wayyy too easy to survive in, making fighter battles take an eternity. They generally don't need help.
Really, all the extra dodging options and armor kits would be unnecessary if not for the fact that without them, glancing shots from caps would demolish everything. This is why I like to keep a missile or torpedo launcher handy. Trade bots all you want, it doesn't help much once your weapons start falling off.
Also the burst damage from cumulated missiles and mines just might kill someone before they can trade or start dodging.
Well it really depends on the situation if someone is breaking a rule or not...
We still have the various death rules as well as the 10K engagement thingy if those are violated in the name of re-supplying then that specific person has broken a rule. I find that fairly simple.
Okay, just to throw some thoughts out here, I think we have two differing views of RP here that are tinging the way people are thinking.
School 1 - you feed my opponent b/b, I don't care, I'm still going to fight to the death.
School 2 - you feed my opponent b/b, I may still fight, but if it's to my disadvantage, I'm going to flee.
Those are just the different ways that people view RP here. Some of us like to RP that there really isn't a respawn, which is one reason my Bounty Hunter tends to leave battles when he gets damaged. Others simply consider this a space ship shooter game.
Either way, here's the way it works from a rules perspective - and was mentioned earlier in this thread. Someone who is supplying a shooting combatant with bots and bats is as much a participant in that battle as the person actually doing the shooting, and is as subject to the docking, fleeing, and re-engagement rules as the person doing the shooting. That does also mean that transports supplying bots in a cap fight are subject to physical destruction within the rules, so long as there is proof of this. (Liberal use of timestamps, such as having /set chattime on, is recommended.)

It is self defense to shoot people that are helping your enemies.
What all counts as helping your enemies, then? If, say, someone chants out the position of a pirating group to all the lawfuls in the system, would it be self defense to shut them up just as if they had been taking b/b to the lawfuls during combat? A sufficiently broad interpretation of this could easily take care of the most common problems with underlevel abuse...
