I've been playing discovery on and off for around 6 months now.
I've done lots of trading and bought expensive ships, even though people told me not to. I should have listened to them, but I didn't so now I have a few expensive ships, loads of fighters and no RP background at all. So inevitably I get bored of my characters very quickly.
Previously I posted topics requesting advice on building characters with freedom. I'm now sick of flying around Sirius with no affiliation.
I wondered if anyone could recommend a faction with good active RP. I'm bored of RPing an armed forces pilot by myself in an empty Bretonia. I want a faction with an active player base and fun RP.
Oh, I'll shoot myself in the foot and suggest Bowex.
Don't like trading?
Cool. We've got mercs and pirates too. We're pretty big, diversified, and reasonably active. Oh, and we're Bowex.
Our lawyers are Dewey Cheatum and Howe.
we have one idea for fun RP faction - if you would like to be unlawful you can drop me PM with your skype.
And It is for now just a idea but we need more people that appreciate fun RP in it- I will be able to tell more in a week or two when our concept is finished.

We are an Hogosha Faction that operates within a semi-complicated Role-Play environment.
Hogosha are quasi-lawful you see, so we basically are criminals in disguise.
As a Yakuza you can:
- Shoot down Outcasts and Blood Dragons. (Whenever they are around)
- Sexually harass Golden Chrysanthemums. Asking them to strip while you watch the whole show through the transmission screen in exchange for letting them leave unharmed always rocks. Humiliation for the win.
- Pirate merchants when no Kusari lawful authorities are around, if they are you will pat the scared trader on the shoulder and thank him for the nice discussion about today's weather and silently wander off. Hopefully the Kusari Police officer won't arrest you and you can start performing extortion somewhere else.
- Greet Samura traders and throw some subtle insults at those Kishiro new-generation bastards.
- Pretend you give a damn about the Farmer Alliance's cause and that you respect Kusari traditions to the fullest while you break them at every chance you can get in the shadows.
If you want more of the darker side of Hogosha you should join Yakuza. Greedy bastards who don't really give two cents about Kusari traditions or respect its welfare. You just want to gain as much money and power as possible while maintaining a strong foothold in Kusari.
If you are more of the traditional old-generation Hogosha who acts more as a nationalistic protector of Kusari, then the Black Dragon Society is more for you.
Regardless of your choice, we are both merged which further boosts our activities as a whole. I have to warn you though that there are certain periods where Kusari can be empty of hostiles. But the traders, they are always there.
I would suggest you join Yakuza if you have interest for piracy. Kusari roleplay is hard and they'll teach you how to be a pro in it.
Black Sails will teach you how to be a ruthless corsair.
While you're doing that, you might check LSF because they are very active as well and they have a pretty decent chain of command you'll have to obey and you will get a feel of how does it feel to be a grunt. Very important as well for future.
While you're doing all that, you can trade in one of many trade corporations.
Most of these factions could use more active members, they'll be happy to have you. Lastly, we at Kishiro pursue as much as possible rp options, so if you're interested in any of these you can look em up. For Kishiro, check my sig.

The =LSF= currently needs more newbies. A lot of promotions have been given out recently. Being in the =LSF= means you get to:
- Throw subtle insults at the Navy
- Boss indie LSF (and most LNS's) around
- <strike>Deny everything</strike>
- Go on occasional recon missions to Rheinland
- Have epic stand of's with the Order which are filled with tension (but nothing actually ends up happening)
- Work with the LPI awesomely
- Act all secret agenty everywhere
- A ton of other stuff which I can't really list here right now since my mom is nagging me for the computer.
But yeah, thats like...5% of the stuff we do? But in al seriousness, our RP is a very stark contrast to that of LPI's (in some ways). We RP very professionally and take everything seriously. Just about an hour ago an LSF agent took a joke that an LPI indie said seriously and mobilised all =LSF= units. Okay well not really, but he did tae the joke seriously.
But yeah, if you're looking for NSA/FBI/CIA RP, LSF is the way to go.
I like the quasi-lawfullness of the Yakuza. but the LSF sounds allot simpler. I know, "what the hell, how can he struggle to RP?". But I actually find it quite difficult to remain consistent in the character I am playing.
How would I "apply" to the LSF? Do I need to do one of those long write ups about my character, I don't mind doing that at all, but it'll take me a while.
If I enjoy and succeed at RPing in the LSF I'm sure I'd be keen to join one of the other factions mentioned at a later date.
Once again thanks for the replies. I am really keen to start playing with more "meaningful" RP.
Join the Enclave. If you dig RP and practically only RP, join the Animus. We like talking more than shooting. We even have a little rivalry going on with the Corporis. (smoke)
