Pulled an hour and a half or so shift... Felt a bit hectic for me, but it probably wasn't so bad.
Though it's good multitasking practice talking to two people in PMs, one in Local and another in System.:D
Though admittedly one of those PMs wasn't even related. xD
Anyway, I sorted out a bit of an issue with an Underlevel kill. The Killer didn't realise his victim was underlevel till after the fact, and seemed genuinely apologetic that he'd broken the rule, if not so much that he'd killed someone. As such, he allowed the other to continue playing in Penn, due to the misunderstanding.
The victim was a good sort, he'd read the rules and all that jazz. Wouldn't be surprised if he were the next local around here, actually.
Also taught a few people the basics of mining, as well as the different chat modes, name changing, and also what the Camera ship is for.
All in all, I'd call this my first day, as it actually felt like work.
Enjoyable work, though.
A good first day.:D
[font=Book Antiqua]Pulled a 2 Hours Long 'First' Shift.
It was busy from the very beginning.
Started my Shift with finding 2 low level Ships shooting each other.
One of them was a Valkyrie with Recruit ID and Xeno Guns.
So, told him about combining Techs and Ships and IDs and showed
him to Bethlehem so he could buy and equip a Dromedary.
That same Valkyrie is now a Freelancer IDed Dromie,
using Furies to Mine Helium at Pennsylvania.
After that, Helped Someone about Bribes and location of Tau-44 JH.
Turned out he wanted to make an Indie CR Char, and didn't know
the ID is faction Only. So I pointed it out and told him about joining.
Helped another person with Joining Official Factions as well, The basics
about posting an Application in Recruitment and rest of the paperworks.
Moved to Gamma, gave a tip or two about doing Missions against Caps
to someone who had trouble doing them. Also showed another pilot
a base with easier Corsair Missions on, and good enough for Repping
in a Poorly Equipped Centurion with Recruit ID. (Trafalgar, New London)
Then moved to Alpha, but seems Outcasts were sleeping and no one
was around, So after ten or so minutes decided to move to Minor.
There were more AIs there than Order, which was pretty funny,
No one in Minor seemed to have any question, so kept myself
busy with PMs. Answered a person who was confused if a Pirate
can use Hegemon with Pirate ID, and whether or not he can dock
on Junker Bases. Also answered a few more questions about IDs
and one about Guard Rep. And decided to call it a Shift.
---
Addendum: Later, got on my Angel to help a friend with a quick
Equipment Transfer he needed. Not long, but worth mentioning.
Apologies if this is not the place, but how does one apply for joining this faction? I've got a fair grasp of most of the game's concepts and could help new players out...
Wide awake in a world that sleeps, enduring thoughts, enduring scenes. The knowledge of what is yet to come.
From a time when all seems lost, from a dead man to a world, without restraint, unafraid and free.

[font=Book Antiqua]Pulled a 3 Hours Shift without even noticing how fast it went!
Was pretty much handling at least 3 People on different Chats all the time.
Peak hours can go crazy, I see. First, when I undocked from Erie, a new player
was looking for loans. So, directed him to Forums and Open Market Section.
Then moved into Hallam Nebula and helped a Pirate with his IFF problem.
Meanwhile, A Miner was asking where can he sell the Niobium he had mined.
After these, a Player PMed me, and he was from the Archy Server, so fairly
familiar with general concept of the mod, but had questions about the general
RP environment and certain rules on this Server. So, I directed him to Forums,
and also had a long chat with him explaining how things work around here.
Meanwhile, I moved to NY to see if anyone has any questions.
Near NewArk, I helped a certian person with an issue with his Researcher ID.
Soon after, someone contacted me, asking if a sitation was against the Rules.
The sitation he explained was kinda tricky, but a violation, but I suggested
he talks to the one who broke the rule before taking any further actions,
which seemed to clear their case and they decided to move on.
Funny fact, Someone actually asked me a copy of Rules I had in my Hold!
He had to have a 2nd look at it to make sure he haven't missed anything.
Although, I reminded him that the Ingame version of the Rules is outdated
and he'd better check the version posted on Forums to be sure.
Also, answered a couple of others' questions. One was about Trade Route
and another about usage of the Camera Ship. Later, I moved to Gamma
and got PMed by someone who was a bit angry about a Fight they had
but was not sure if it was a Rule violation - which clearly wasn't.
Still, tried to calm them down while talking to the attacker as well,
And after it was solved, I decided to call it a day and return to Pennsy.
When I got to Pennsy, I ran into a group of low level Ships who were
looking for help. Seems one of the Group Members was a player from
UK Server, with a decent knowledge of the Rules and RP, and was trying
to help the newer guys around. So they invited me to their Group and
I explained basics of RP, few of the necessary Server Commands,
and also a few tips about Mining, and then I realized I've been
up and running for 3 hours straight, so decided to log and rest.
I also got a Donation of 5 Millions from W.F.Cody-Equipment.Shop.
[font=Book Antiqua]Pulled a 'Quick Shift' earlier when I was passing through Gamma in my Merc
and noticed a Ship getting killed by Sairs over and over, but undocking and
attacking them again, so had to jump on Angel and try to settle things down.
I Wasn't much successful for the first 5 minutes, as neither of the sides stopped,
But gladly, I managed to calm things down before Bear hopped on his Admin.
Well, it didn't end much satisfactory, but the case was solved anyway.
But later, my other 'Quick Shift' turned into a 2 Hours one.
First half an hour in Gamma was actually quiet, but when I moved to Pennsy
the questions started. First, helped someone who was setting up a BMM Miner,
and meanwhile answered a few Mining Related Questions, about where the
fields are and where are Ores sold best and how to get Bonuses.
Also answered a few questions about IDs and IFFs, as well as what Guns
Freelancers can use. After that, was when I ran into my main 'Student' of
the evening... A Recruit IDed Barracuda, with Rheinland and Liberty Guns, and
an IDless Defender with Liberty and Junker Guns, doing missions together.
Although the one in Defender was not really good with English, but he at least
knew the basics. His friend on the other hand, was better with English.
First, I pointed out the main issue with their Guns and ID, and then they
asked a few questions about Chats and the Server, then I noticed they're
trying to make money by doing Missions in Pennsy. So I told them to make
new Chars and told them about /restart Commands and Basics of Mining.
Seems they were pretty happy about their new Rhinos and Cash Source.
So I left them in the Nebula to Mine, and Called it a Shift.
[font=Book Antiqua]The Morning Shift took 1.5 Hours this time.
It was pretty quiet around the Server, but the occasional PMs kept it going.
First, a Kind Zoner helped me move some Equipment to my Alpha Angel,
And when that was done, I noticed Harbinger in the Distance... Soon to find
out he is planning to infest my Angel and send me to Minor in form of a
Nomad Voidrunner! Meanwhile, Helped someone who had question about
Custom HUDs, and moved to Liberty after I was finished.
Pennsy was strangely quiet, So I moved to New York. There, I answered
a few Questions about AI ID and it's general RP and Restriction. Also,
he was interested to know if AI Guns are transferable to other Ships,
And the answer was pretty obvious, as the Admins had already stated
AI Guns stays on AI Drones. There was also a Level 8 Defender in New York,
who - Surprisingly - was RPing pretty good over System Chat.
This proves not all underlevels are newbies or lolwuts.
Also, A Player was interested to know where he can find High Level Missions
for Liberty Navy. And another was asking about LSF Missions and Rep.
I pointed both of them to appropriate Bases where they can find their Missions.
Later, when I decided to move back to Pennsylvania, I saw a Mining Ship with
a Sanction Notice in the Hold. I directed him to Forums and also gave him a
Copy of Server Rules, and in return, got the Sanction Notice from him.
The Notice now sits in my Cargo just for fun and to show newer players what
may happen if they use unacceptable Language on the Server.
On my way back to Pennsy, I got contacted by someone who had trouble
with the Tractor Beam. Although he had his ID Mounted and his Cargo had
free Space, he couldn't Beam anything in. So, Although I didn't know what
might have caused the problem, I suggested he posts his question on Forums
so maybe someone more familiar with Game Engine can answer his question.
Last PM I got was when I was back to Pennsy, and an Outcast was not sure
if the RP he had got from a group of Hostiles before being Engaged was enough
Rule-wise or not. The RP was at the bare Minimum, but Sufficed Rule-wise.
After this question was answered as well, I decided to call it a Shift and Docked.
[font=Book Antiqua]Pulled another 2 Hours Shift, was pretty busy this time.
First one was a Pirate who was asking if a Trader can return to system after
getting killed, and can the Pirate try to tax him again or not... Funny is,
not much later, I got contacted by another person, having a much similar
question! But seems situation between this new set of Pirate and Trader
was getting a bit out of hand, so decided to see what I can do about the
situation after making a group with both of them. Seems the Pirate had
demanded the Trader's Cargo not long ago, but he had refused to drop,
so the pirate had decided to take it by force, and when the trader had
returned to System, the Pirate decided to tax him again, because he
didn't pay the other time. Seems this made the Trader angry and that's
where the problem started. Sad part was, both of them were two of the
Fairly experienced Players of the Community, and although I tried to
explain that neither of them were doing anything wrong, apart from the
trader thinking it was just unfair, they didn't listen. So, After some half
an hour of Discussion, I finally suggested that they both have a short
rest, and discuss it later when they're both calm. Gladly, they listened.
Meanwhile, Someone PMed me and asked which ID is best if he wants
to fly a Mammoth, And when I suggested Liberty Corps like Universal
or Ageira, he asked where to get the ID, so I told him about Repping
for the Factions, IFFs and where he can get the ID after Repping.
Later, I got contacted by someone who wanted to know if Capital Ships
are restricted to Official Factions, or anyone with right ID and IFF can use
them. After answering the question, I reminded him of the CapShip Rules
and also pointed him at the Houses Cap Ship Registry Threads.
Same person, later contacted me and asked questions about AI ID.
So, I gave him a general summary of AI Lore and told him that AI ID
is available on Gammu, because he thought it's still a restricted ID.
But after a short talk, I noticed he's trying to use the ID for a normal
Human-Made AI, so I suggested he gets a Faction ID, and after reviewing
a few IDs, he finally decided to get Zoner Guard and operate in Omicrons.
Main event of the evening was hearing about a newbie in Rhino shooting
random Starfliers on Pennsy, so I got there and found him by the NY Gate.
Seems him and his brother were new to server, and the way he put it,
he was 'having fun' while waiting for his brother to come online.
Seeing the other one didn't speak any English, and they only wanted to
shoot at stuff and have fun, with no real interest in Roleplay and all, I told
them about Discovery of Discovery Server, and they were interested,
So, they decided to take off for DoD, where they won't have problem
with making money or repping Ships either, and they can just have fun.
Finally when I decided to call it a Shift and return to Erie, I ran into a
Freelancer who was using Magmahammers, so, Told him that he needs
Permission from LN to use those Guns. So, he asked me for a good
replace until he gets permission, and I told him about Civilian and
Zoner Guns, and also the Codenames. He headed to NewArk to get
some Flashpoints after our short talk.
Also, Heading back to Erie, I saw some familiar faces from my last
shifts, who were busy mining or chilling by Erie. As Sass used to say:
"God bless the noobs for they know not what they do."
[font=Book Antiqua]Despite feeling a bit sick, pulled a 1 Hour shift today.
I was on another Char when I heard someone saying he can't buy a Ship
because it says he doesn't have the Correct ID. So, went on my Angel to
help him out. I answered his Question and also told him about Tech Chart.
Then, someone PMed me with a question about "Police -" in front of his name.
So, I told him about IFFs, Rep Sheet, and how to use /droprep if needed.
Meanwhile, Someone was asking how can he transfer Equipment between two
of his Chars. I answered him, and seems his Friend had a question as well.
He had to reinstall Windows and had lost his old account, and he was asking
if there is any way to get his chars back. I directed him to the Forums and
told him to make a thread and ask Admins nicely.
Later, I moved to Liberty. Everyone were busy working, so there weren't
many questions in System or Local Chat. Still, gave someone a tip about
Weapons Loadout and using Groups. Noticed a Freelancer who had Gallic
Civilian Guns on his Ship, and a Smuggler with Outcast Guns.
Told them both about Tech Chart Restrictions, and they both decided to
get Sirius Civilian Guns instead to be on safe side of the Rules.
Also, Someone was curios what the "Cloaking Device" Message was,
so I told him about disconnecting, and the consequences it will have
for him if he tries to use it to escape any Player Interaction.
Same Person was curios if he has to register the Gunboat he wanted
to buy, On forum, so I told him that it's completely Optional and
only for pushing the level of RP Up, then directed him to the related
Thread on the Forums, so he can register his Gunboat once he has it.
In the End, when I was returning to Erie, I got contacted by someone
who was curios if /restart corsair will help him in repping his Order
ship easier. I told him about the current RP situation between
Corsairs and The Order, and also pointed out that the Corsair
Restart will put him to Hostile with many factions that Order
has more of a 'Neutral/Friendly' Stance toward.
Realizing that, he decided to make his char with /restart Liberty
and get help from the OCV- to Rep it for him.
Then I got poked by BHG| to get on my Manta to go raid Alpha,
And seeing everything is quiet, I decided to jump on that Ship.
---
Later On, I pulled a small 'Quick Shift' when I heard about an [Admin]
tagged ship named AofE in Taus... Thinking it's some random newbie
who doesn't know what's he's doing, I got on my Angel, but soon
turned, the 'AofE' out to be 'A'gmen 'of' 'E'ladesor...!
Well... Seeing that it was settled, I lingered around Alpha for a while
but seems everyone were just recovering from the BHG/CR Raid
earlier
Also, a while later when I went back to Alpha, I noticed too many
familiar names from our Alpha Raid on my Scanners, and although
all of them had either died or fled, they were back to System in less
than 4 hours. So, I had to interrupt the System Chats for a minute to
Explain the 4 Hours Rules, and then asked them to leave the System.
Gladly, All of them listened & either moved to other Systems or Logged.
