Anyhow thus it's not conflict related, but this question has been risen while at it. So I just wondered.
Do Corsairs empire recognize 'sair refugees in gran canaria as their own?
Now from my characters pespective - no. They don't care about us, we don't care about them. Some sellouts living with zoners are no worth secrificing anything. Thus maybe I'm missing here something.
Now sorry of incapablity to write anything constructive, becouse I need to get hurry for the uni, but I'll willing to discuss more once I get back after couple of hours.
I heard they moved their on their own in desire to find a more prosperous land and community. You cannot ignore them man.
I mean you took the "if you're not with me you're against me" policy even against your own people?
They're still Ventru, whether people like it or not. And I'm sure they're keeping themselves in closed marriages as much as they can. again, player input only. Devs should make a statement in green.
if the corsair faction leaders decide that they are not part of the corsairs anymore - it can be added to the ID card. otherwise they stay corsairs by the lore - and you can RP them in any way you like - as can others RP them.
they have no physical presense on GC - they are but a footnote in the ID and some stories... but then - stories is what its all about. - and stories that haven t ended yet can be altered - usually by the storyteller or the audience to which the storyteller listens to.
i dont know about the lore, but here's my opinion.
can corsairs claim their birthright if they no longer grow up on crete, don't keep the cretan traditions and doesn't contribute to the corsair well being (other than not eating the imported / pirated food / other resources)? they don't fly to malvada to get an artifact. and don't pirate or fight for their brothers and sisters. they parhaps even have kids with non-corsairs, and maybe they themselves aren't 'pure-bred', so to speak.
i do consider them corsars, but definately not ventru. calling them ventru would dishonor the sacrifice the ancient clan did, when they let themselves be eaten.
imo, ventru is a 'level 2 corsair', these gran canaria immigrants are not that. corsair, yes; ventru, no. they were weak and gave up.
Personally I consider Gran Canaria Corsairs to be important part of Corsair Empire.
Gran Canaria, at least point, is exception in NFZ rules: Corsairs stage attacks to Dublin from it.
Also Gran Canaria is efficient way to gain some land for the poorest Corsairs, as well as make Crete less-populated (their issue atm)
I won't mention one of my characters lives there in secrecy.:P
I will always consider the Corsairs on GC to be true Corsairs and an important part of the Empire. As time moves on the Corsairs must adapt and the settlement on Gran Canaria is just such an adaptation. Corsairs living on the outskirts of the Empire, growing food to ship back to their brothers and sisters on Crete. A first tentative step to become self sufficient food wise. Miguel Sephardi has family on GC, and GC and the Corsairs on GC are a Central part of the Corsairs plans in O-47, O-49 and Dublin. Not all Corsairs are the same, not all Corsairs roles are the same. Just because a Corsair is not in a Titan killing zoners (lol) does not mean he is not contributing to the Empire.

Erm yeah about that and GC, I know this isnt completely related to the topic but will GC survive in 4.86? Not from corsairs I mean from the dev team. There was a few topics about how 'oorp' a planet was for the zoners in vanilla lore terms...
The Corsairs on GC follow the zoners rules, I think. The mollies have complained a bit but they havent attacked 0.o. So yeah, I guess they are a slice of the Corsair empire a bit far away from home.

Actually Corsairs don't have to shoot to contribute at all.:)

Uh, got any links? Because I don't see any trouble with it (despite vanilla Zoners would have to tolerate huge numbers of Corsairs who changed their "homes"), especially after Zoner destroyers and already plenty of stations through Sirius.
Warning - Zelot's post may contain humour...no links required!
But on topic - IF the situation with the ZOners vs. Corsairs continues - then war generally means internment of hostile foreign persons.
This could shift the focus of the conflict from the Freeports to GC. Its interesting - how much can the Corsairs spare in terms of RP resources to protect those people. Sure, they could send a fleet to smash everything up - but they cant do that if their bretheren are scattered among the Zoner facilites.
Not only that, but GC is a planet, able to station far larger forces than a Freeport. GC is also a lot further out, meaning and Corsair strike force risks being intercepted.
And if the Corsairs were to send overwhelming force - just how much would it leave their main front exposed to the Outcasts?
Finally, peace-loving, beatnik Zoners or not - if the Corsair minority on GC wants to resist being treated as hostages - history shows what happens to such attempts...
