I have had Keepers/wild in cruisers try to kill me.So those cruisers. And to fight them, and GB's? move alot, stay real close so they have near impossible time hitting you,and as i said. Spam the anti-sheild mines, and then a SNAC does wonders. I also use 30K freighter sheilds. Against a cruiser? Stay long range, and keep SNAC it at max range. It cannot catch you,and if you move at that range will never hit you. But as said before. Fighters will maul you if they are half decent pilot's. I tried the missile spamming, but with a full server the missiles will still not track properly, and are costly to keep replacing all that ammo. Also useless against GB's and up. Bombers? I love Bombers. I have not had 1 even close to killing me yet.
PS. the GB's i have killed a few times were Liberty. They d not always like my cargo,as i kill and sell Wild to a "scientist" in NY. They usually give me the drop the wild, then Pew Pew. They lack any other RP.

So you basically fly it exactly as if it were a bomber? Almost defeats the purpose of the Recycler if you fly it like that because you could simply use a bomber which is better suited to you know, being a bomber. I spose the difference is you can mount decent shield busters to assist against fighters.

My junkers all use Junker ships only. And the junkers do not have a bomber.Only the Recycler. So i use olector/Recycler,and salvager. Also the Recycler has double the bots/bats of bombers, does not have to use useless bomber guns, and has a far greater cargo hold.

To start here, I would like to comment on Recycler, as the codesigner of this ship and member of 4.85 balance team and enthusiast flyer of Recycler (even if nearly a year ago).
Recycler is the most versatile ship on offer in sirius today. It is part fighter part freighter part bomber and it can fulfill any of those roles to a limited extent.
I used it for some rather fun mischief in new tokyo and other Hogosha territories. My loadout consisted of shield buster turrets + codes (jades or something), CD + Nova torpedo and starkiller or sunslayer. This loadout then emphasizes it's strengths quite well with a few well thought out fighting procedures.
For example fighters.. I addopted my gunboat technique when fighting fighters.. first i established how good the enemy pilot is. If the enemy is very poor I would simply joust them and bring them down with accurate weapon fire and very good freighter shield + starkiller torpedo. If the pilot is to good for that, simple evasive techniques running away using mines and rear turrets to wear them down. with that many nanobots there never was a time i simply couldn't run away well.
Gunboats. Here you are an obvious underdog. However, with shield busting turrets you can dish out enough shield damage to drain the gunboat shield.. and once you do a nova torpedo on a "suicide" run will quickly render the gunboat useless. Withou even you needing to kill it.
Same goes for transports but way way more easy. You can easily dodge transports at maximum shield buster range, simply drain.. launch nova.. strip them of weapons give them the finger and ask for a donation.
So freighter part you might ask? Well check the cargo capacity.. it's not that bad for a space exploration ship. In any case when fighting a fighter I prefeer it compared to Junker bomber options. It's versatile and should be flown unlike any other ship. If you do fly it with a cookie cutter concept then it does fail at roles traditionaly meant for diffrent ships.

Very interesting adventures you have there. Since I don't use Recyclers for pirating, would mounting an Inferno instead of a CD work better? Or is there a specific use for the CD in combat you have?

CD's stop straffing, and are good at blowing up other players mines as they drop them.
This ship is strange and it has strange role.
It works for me only as second in line support ship, some kind of escort for VHFs, I would equip it with full deb turrets 2 deb guns/650 speed codes and 2 mini razors. Then you have some chance to to do support function staying our of the main battle. If you want to kill gunboats well take Waran or VHF and Recycler.
This ship works only against transports and freighters, and also against very incompetent vhfs and bomber pilots, if you instant kill them with double razor. Using a SNAC is bad since you have no option to do shield dmg and energy to use the SNAC, you also need partner to do the shield dmg for you, so better 2 razors.
Mosquito CD is brutal in combo with nukes on fast ships let say eagle or HFs. TCD is a bit bad but it works too. You can also blast your own mines with CD and cut the engine kill of enemies.

Kills every Kusari bomber and fighter. If you have a turf war going on against the farmers alliance and hogosha especially, this ship will be able to thin the Black Dragon/Mamoru spam quite easily (and any pesky Chimeras and Umibozu's that decide to get involved). The only gunboats that either the FA or the Hogosha has to draw on is the Corsair or Gaian one, and that's been restricted to the official factions of both NPC factions right now.
The 'flexibility' that you're asking for is why 4.84 bombers got nerfed (again). Tell me the difference between a Recycler with a 37k powercore (light bomber/past-proposed-buff), 2 T/CD slots, 5 fighter guns forward and 24k armour, and the 4.84 Falcata, with 37k powercore, 2 T/CD slots, 4 fighter guns forward and 23k armour*. I'll actually tell you the difference, and that's that the Recycler can mount a cap 3.
You dont need mad skills to go nuts in a bomber even now. You just need to not be fighting against the wrong people. If you want a power plant or armour buff, it's going to come at the cost of one of the two T/CD slots and cargo space.
fyi
- Mafic has very little strafe. Pretty easy to hit, but bloody dangerous otherwise.
- Spatial is the easiest thing to supernova ever.
- Neither can solo a gunboat, since the gunboat can just run away if the SHF has anything other than a CD.
Please remember that buffs that give the majority the capability to defend themselves adequately give the minority the capacity to rape the server. This is why bombers have been constantly nerfed since their introduction. You cant have your cake and eat it, no matter how much you cry. And that's not an insult, since I've personally been in this position before.
*all values are estimates from memory.
PS: Lone barghest vs lone GB should, and I say should because a lot of gunboat pilots don't know what on earth is going on, result in the GB winning. This assumes a 6-forward full primary GB loadout and a decent ability at pre-empting enemy supernova launches.
Lone Mafic vs lone GB usually ends in the GB running for the hills, though. Draining 110 b/b is one thing off a barghest is one thing, draining 250 b/b from something smaller is entirely different.
