' Wrote:Corsair's not being able to produce enough food to feed their population is a balancing mechanic. If they could feed their entire population their birth rates would increase. This would give them an edge over the Outcasts, thus allowing them to defeat them. Since this is not something the development team wants a mechanic to balance the two factions against each other must be in place
I hate to spoil your fun (yeah my favorite line), but I must say few sentences.
* There is no such thing as Outcast - Corsair >>WAR<<. .86 there will be no eta system. And even in nowday conditions there is huge minefield in eta which prevents from big full scale engagments. (OoRP home system raids are not proff of war)
From .86 battles will take place in sigmas. Contested space. But all you will have there is few skirmishes for positions over tradelanes and occasional clashes between patrols. Skirmishes - not war. None of the groups going to sigma doesn't have an intent to kill all outcasts, nor outcasts have intent to kill all corsairs as a whole. They despise each other, but their war efforts are nothing more than competeting over contested space and trying to push each other out from it.
Now in omegas against hessians - yes you have war there and systematic constant struggle..

Few biodomes can surly do more then like 100-200 freeport 9 inhabitants with those same few biodomes.
But what is the point of it is just having the biodome technology, you don't have to build them in open space, just build them on planet surface to made artificial climate inside and grow as much as you please. Building space stations around is an expecive game you know.
I really do hope the backwater corsair systems get developed. It would be epic to see people trading there. Or ya know what would be even more epic? a jumphole leading from 92 to burgundy.
gone four years, first day back: Zoners still getting shot in Theta :|
Well, i'm all for giving a reason for those 2 pretty systems to exist. Corsairs can use 5000 transports btw 8-|
So, trade routes are all welcome. Dead systems = wast of space
I believe the idea of Corsairs being able to beat the Outcasts because of a few biodomes is preposterous, no it is not a balancing mechanic, I agree with everything that Zelot/Sephardi has said. Have you also noticed that the Outcasts have near double the amount of allies of the Corsairs?
Corsairs - Gaians, Hogosha, thats about it.
Outcasts - Liberty Rogues, Lane hackers, GC, Blood Dragons, and they get no trouble from the Red Hessians.
If you ask me, the Corsairs are in a larger struggle than the Outcasts.
Dream Theater - "Sabre120 and Jongleur officially win. That is all."
