I agree that the number of systems is huge compared to the 200-player limit. But if you want to see something new you should add things, not edit the already existing ones. From this perspective I like the idea of adding new systems but in a slower rate.
All these guys who said to delete Gallia, ok I agree it's too overloaded, for example I think Gallia has more planets than the other four Houses together, but this is not a reason to dislike Gallia. I believe they aren't very familiar with Gallia, mostly because it is new, very isolated, the lawful forces will hunt you, etc and this feeling is being converted to dislike.

then there are just about the right nomber of systems.
' Wrote:i was thinking of that too
there are too many guard systems and independet/edge/edge of houses/nomad systems for nothing only to pass trough them to get to dublin, ny...
whay can't for example ln,lpi, lsf share one guard system?
you can put one jump gate/hole to that system and for evry fraction one or two bases with lot of equipment
galia is unnessesary to me and it looks nonfreelancer, evrything is wierd and overloaded with objects
I agree. Too many Guard Systems. Some factions don't even deserve to have one, eg. IMG why should have a Guard System or even a battleship? It's just a mining guild... not a military with advanced technology and reasearch techniques.
' Wrote:I'd send him a pack of beers for that. On the other hand, the server, as it is, is rarely at its limit. I mean, I haven't seen the numbers go to 190 for quite some time.
It's possibly the time you log in. Almost every day the server for an hour or so, reaches 190 players.

Even if I didn't log in peak times, which I do, the numbers were higher before. Where are the times I used to spam the connect button for 10 minutes because it was full? But that's for another discussion, I think. I don't want to make Zelot sad.
' Wrote:I think guard systems are useful in one way:they sell ships.
Take Virgina and Ellesmere for example, they're the only places which sell Avengers
Unless the guard systems are way more guarded, they are just making shortcuts or loopholes for traders. Even Hiroshima's defense is awfully weak. Without something that spams TCDs and something else that spams SNAC, the bases will do just the same in regular systems. Or am I wrong?
' Wrote:Yes, it is a problem. We really dont need more systems in total, than vanilla had have.
They were made and added, because of making the mod more interesting, and in this way they work. But, of course, 200 players would fit nicely into only 25 systems or so. It is logical nonsense, to have >150 systems, but only 200 players.
The only solution to solve this logigal problem, is to rewrite some areas, and merge systems, that are only visited for mapping purposes and buying equipment.
Agreed.

Agreed, maybe not Newcastle but guard systems...
' Wrote:I might be wrong but I coulda sworn Cannon was working on a solution to raise the player limit.
Sweet!!
' Wrote:Better not to add new systems.
All we need is to improve heavily existing ones, for example: make bigger and realistic planets (like is burgundy, if im right),put suns out of map, remake field to make then realistic and so on.
Thats what could be done to make interesting "old" systems.
Systems which are not popular you may just close or clean up to leave free space
Also agreed.
' Wrote:My problem is not with the system number but with the way the systems are. Most have bases, planets... and thats all. No anomalies no irregularities, nothing to discover much.
In the new version me and Yuri tried to add something new to an already existing one. I only wish that each system or at least some had the same feeling so that people would go out and discover.
Agreed...
' Wrote:There are already so many empty and useless systems, no one ever visits expect for wreck looting (if there are any)
I concur: Stop adding systems, change old ones.
Agreed......

Story: The most devastating Ion Storm happened just somewhere before 4.85 and 6 so the shockwave caused an unstablity of some jump holes and they collapsed breaking off the connections with remote parts of space ...
...
PROFIT
Also, good idea to remove some guard systems and place just guard stations to hidden places of existing systems (above\under the place, minefielded all over around, etc)
