' Wrote:I have a question too, on the matter: freelancer iff/pirate id sabre with codes, as to be completely unaffiliated. Never committed a crime (or better, never caught). Can it be attacked on sight, such as other, more infamous, pirate groups?
Provided the ID of the attacking player allows it to hunt pirates/unlawfuls where it's engaging the pirate, yes. Pirate ID means you're a pirate. It's a bit OORP to use this as an excuse for blowing up say, a pirate ID'd Camaran freighter who's moving through a lane. But with vessels like the pirate transport, or bombers, a reasonable assumption can be made said character is up to no good.
Use common sense really. If you're a freelancer IFF/Pirate IDd player, drop a lane, and a lawful fighter pops out, don't go "Yea, I'm a civilian. Not sure how that lane was dropped". Annoys me when people do that playing dumb routine.

It annoys me even more if I do commit a crime in one House, then flight back to my char's home* in another House (being at war with the previous) and suddenly I am oh-so-unlawful.
But hey, it's just my RP, ignore it if you desperately need that reason to pew pew, it's not like we are playing on RP server or something. ;)
//* - being an unlawful/semi-lawful base, because of some funny reason Pirate IDed chars usually can't land on lawful bases
Also, for indie pirates, no IFF would suit better. IFF is supposed to show alignment and if they are only loyal to Sirius Credit...
Feel free to PM me regarding any grammar/spelling/other language mistakes I have made in my posts.

Eh, people travel between houses. If I encounter a pirate in Bretonia who previously shot me up in Rheinland, I'm not going to be all smiles. So yea, distance is relative in this matter. But that applies only to factions that operate cross-house, not the house police and navy.
Only exception would be factions like the Bret Privateers - who are forbidden from pirating within Bretonia but get a carte blanche to hit any Kusari shipping.

Aye,I can agree with that. This seems to be the current trend here now,Freelancer IFF/Pirate ID.
Pretty soon there won't be any miners or traders because of the sudden influx of these unsavory types.
Then its time to let loose the hords of Freelancer IFF/Merc ID ships.Let the lasers fly.
Got another question, since we're talking aboit ID-IFF interaction
What about Pirate ID and no IFF? How does it look like? No IFF shouldn't be much different than Freelancer IFF, right? I mean, Freelancer IFF is almost redundant.
Opinions?
