Yeah, when my friends used to play, we used it regularly. Much better to coordinate. However, I've never tried it in a mixed company. Not in Freelancer at least. As for music and yelling, just use push to talk on teamspeak.

Anyway, it helps a lot, and for large groups, when the action starts, it's just like in the movies: "Cut the chatter guys" and then you just call targets, warn someone about their 6, and call when you're a target. Actually, if kept in control, it actually helps immersion more than in RP typing;)

It's hard to hear each other when everyone is speaking at the same time. I used to have a microphone and used it with some other games but found myself with a headache after each session. It's an excellent method of communication but hard to organise properly.

Hate will eat you up from the inside, so hurry up and give your heart to a girl before you get eaten up.

I have one and yeah I've been part of group calls for the purposes of this game. It's a relatively rare occurance since not everyone has a mic.

Yus, I have one, and saving for a better one, I use the current one for Teamspeak, as well as Skype Calls, with friends on Freelancer. Sometimes, though rarely, I use my mic to chat on MSN, but apart from that, just Freelancer.

My opinion is outdated

Yeah. It's invaluable in group fights, since I, for one, can't dodge while typing.
