Snag: Human digestive system isn't capable of processing blood. Could it actually extract cardamine from it at all?

I think cardamine doesnt neet to get extracted... it goes into what ever it can by itself.

Yup, it would appear that some of that cardamine DNA coding makes organic material containing it mutagenic.

But then again, the character isn't supposed to be exactly sane, either, and is abnormal to begin with.

As said, not many specifics are given about Cardamine.

But given that it is a potent mutagen, I would say yes.
