I personally like having cargo show up directly in my cargo hold, but small mining ships may need more cargo space because of it.
Upgrade the basalt's stats to a carbon copy of the CSV.
The CSV is already given as a /restart craft, and it has 180 holds. with 180 holds you should be able to hit more than 2 rocks without "insufficient cargo space", and if necessary make profit by hauling it yourself.
The "heavy miner" should have more space as well
I'm not sure how many people use it, but the "Anki" has 500 cargo space, and already sold in the capitol of the 4 major houses. it handles exactly the same as a Mafic with a similar gun load-out (Without the torpedo mount) and it's top most turret is a 360 mount, handy if you like to mine in turret mode.
So maybe have the "Anki" and the "Dacite" trade identities. rename each one to the other and change infocards as necessary. The "Dacite" would be a 500 hold mining freighter, and the "Anki" would be a normal heavy fighter. (Renzu Corp's light fighter is named just "Ki")
IMHO the Mafic should be a miner at all, it's used as much as a support bomber as it is a miner.
Many miners like it because they can mine a cloud in a ship that mounts a SNAC. IMO miners don't need a SNAC, they need cargo space.(hence the Anki/Dacite switch) If they still want to mount a mining laser and help mine in one that's fine, but little or no bonuses. The price you pay for the extra firepower.
' Wrote:You see now why miners get upset. They cannot even play this game and enjoy for the fact they are pirated relentlessly into financial oblivion. Then that miner gets on his pirate and starts pirating miners to make up for his own losses.
So you see, the problem is not the mining, it is a bunch of people who, because of the rules they can pirate someone this way, without any thought about the other player and their enjoyment of a GAME.
I have said this before and I will say it again. EVERYTHING on this server has been balanced, nerfed, or just taken away with the EXCEPTION OF PIRACY. Until those who run this server recognizes this as the true problem we will always be talking about this.
Piracy is good. I do not mine being pirated, but I would hate being pirated relentlessly over and over again and not being able to just play this game.
Oh wait. I should just get an escort. That is always the solution.
Sorry to say, but: don't be in a mining field alone. If you are, expect to be easy prey.
Join a mining faction and go for teamplay. Example: IMG had up to 5 escorts today for a multiple field mining session of 2 haulers and 2 Hegemons, 5 enemy vessels were killed in the process, no own losses. It was tense, it was fun and even though the fields were only low drop (already pretty well used) we could do what we wanted.
Pirates are the spice of the game.
Making money would not be fun without the risk of losing it.
I don't know how long you are into this game. Once you have a few VHFs and you are content with your stuff, you can enjoy piracy. I can remember how pissed off I was at the beginning... it changes. And it becomes actually positive.
These changes yesterday:
- /local, /invite, etc are fixed
- adjusted the daumann/kruger bonuses
My order of work is:
- fix .pull
- fix /si
- adjust the drop rate algorithm as a field gets depleted so that drops remain a little higher before running out
- adjust the ramming damage algorithm.
- something clever with the small mining ships; might settle for just giving them a higher bonus - depends on motivation
- make /local the default if it is not specified or set

Sounds awesome! Thanks so much, Cannon (and anyone else who's working on this stuff, if there is anyone). Just one thing, though:
' Wrote:- something clever with the small mining ships; might settle for just giving them a higher bonus - depends on motivation
That might be nice, but that would just mean that instead of dumping your cargo bay every 5 seconds, you'd be doing it every 3 seconds. A greater annoyance for a greater yield... well, I'd rather it didn't come to that.
There were a few suggestions in this thread about that that I liked, though. Like a command that transfers all of a small-miner's ore into a nearby Hegemon or transport as it gets mined. But hell, I have no idea how possible/impossible that would be.
Just wanted to smile and point out: you seem to be pretty involved in mining for having been the one who always was against "the miners whining about having no mining". =)
And, to the topic:
It would be interesting to get an insight into the background mechanisms of depletion.
I don't want to base ingame roleplay decisions on a shaky basis, so it would be nice if we could be told how the system works. With that basis we could start roleplaying with ore depletion and develop ingame consequences.
Mining factions have already considered ingame consequences but (hopefully) everybody can wait until some stable conditions are reached and this insigt into how it works exists.
Thank you for the updates, Cannon. I like practically all of them and the new mining stuff is awesome. Never had that much roleplay in mining as today when we had to move to different fields, check the yield, decide whether to mine there, secure perimeters, hit enemies close by... it works. Fine tuning, yes. But the ideas are yery good.

Yes, I still think the server would be better without the mining mod but seeing that won’t happen I want to make sure DHC’s mining operations are fixed and our disadvantage is removed
You're mostly talking to people in sight anyway, If you aren't they are probably in your group. And if you need to talk to anyone in a system you might as well be aware that you do by typing a /s in front of it.
Yes. Please do this.
I fully agree with what was said here, and both me and my boyfriend are actually wondering why this was not default in the first place!
