' Wrote:The production capacity of my Basalt miner has been halved. In the time it takes to eject the twenty or so units the ship can hold I could have mined that same amount again. I'm entirely reliant on the whims and timetables and selections of haulers who generally prefer to buy ore direct from Hegemons.
Personally, I'm not happy with cargo going directly into your cargo hold. If your hold is full, could the ore just float in space where you shoot the rock? I don't see a problem with that system.
The problem with that system is that many ore packets in space seemed to generate a bit of server load - it's a performance measure. You are aware of the new feature where, if you have another ship selected, mining will fill it's hold, rather then your own? This allows small transports to effectively fill transports, it just means the transport has to be physically there (and therefor becomes a target itself, for unlawfuls, rather then hugging the nearest base until there's cargo). The Basalt however is a pain in the rear due to it's rearfiring turret, recommend using a Dacite or Mafic instead.
If you want temporary storage capacity, team up with a Hegemon and fill that using 2 miners. If you want to mine alone and generate an ore cloud to sell? Well. Too bad.

this is not allowed.

two computers on the same ip address need to have two separate players controlling them

Like I said there is nothing to stop you using F1 the same as always as long as the server isn't full or nearly so. I could make a demo video but I really can't be arsed.
not allowed. havng two computers means you have an advantage over the player who only has one.

theoretically, you could have TEN windows of freelancer running at once. but i couldnt recommend it. its exploiting a loophole. how could you possibly rp 10 people at once? hell, why stop at ten? you could wake up real early, open 200 windows of freelancer, fill the server by yourself, and mine out every single ore field, moving from one to the other until they were all depleted. you'd have 400bn, and the rest of us would be skint

If you stay on line with two pc's the system will kick you after a certain length of time. Used to be the cat. If it's illegal then why have a timer. The system must detect this straight away but it doesn't kick you.
watch it laddie. you flame me when my intent is to stop you from getting perma-banned, and i'll just sit back and let you dig your own grave in future.

This might cause spam sometimes, but ...
It's still a nice addition. Until now you could only screenshot a docking ship if he slow-docked and his shields
went off. Thank you. (Though I don't hope this will come in use too often...Sanctions are always meh...)

Haven't mined in the last time...but, have you read the suggestion I made about mining for another target?

/t ... like /setmining or something, you type it, and as long as that target is close to you, you mine for him).
I didn't think this was that big of an issue, but if you're mining you will always target the new contacts to see
what IFF they show or what ship they fly. That's at least what I do. Losing a target can be annoying too. And
often you don't reallize that you have another ship targeted - so, it would be really nice to have this a bit
changed.
I don't think this was changed, was it? I mean the mining for other players.
And I'm sorry for sparking the trader-miner-discussion there, just wanted to give an example of how the
mining has changed.

I'm aware of the feature. But I like being independent and not relying on other people. I admit, I did fill my own Shire, because of my mentality regarding others, which is not to rely on them. Losing five ore clouds because nobody was around to purchase them forced me into action to be more independent of haulers.
The reason I chose the Basalt is because I'm trying to role-play something different. I see expensive ships like Hegemons and Mafics everywhere and I'm thinking: How are small-time miners affording these in the first place? InRP it doesn't make any sense. It's like everybody driving Ferrari's without an explanation on how they got the money to buy one.
