Ye. Everyone will fly with pretty much same layouts, becouse someone Q_Q too much. Well np, balance. Now we need to "fix" snubs in the same way giving them same weapons. And we will be pretty much all balanced and bland ; )

ccccombobreaker.
Also, sorry Mjolinr but I have to ask. Will all split turret setups be symmetrical? (the ones that are up seem pretty good about symmetry, so I'm hoping that the answer is yes)
Where the ships are symmetrical, I reckon yes on left and right flank. Top and bottom might be a different story, most heavy slots tend to be on top of the ship (which is fine by me, in chase cam you tend to view the ships top. And I want to see that big old mortar fire).

It is basically all the snub players complaining, and yet again getting their way. This is a Cap nerf, nothing more. Within a week every snub player will know the weakness of every cap,and just pawn away. Disco was known for it's caps, and access to them. Now it is going same way as every other mod,and nerfing caps.In 2050 when 4.87 comes out no caps at all. That will probly be right after 4.86 comes out in 2040.

Are you daft?
This is an epic buff.
All caps will be able to fight against any target, instead of having to specialize or be medicore at both like it currently is.
You know, Im always against cap nerfs.
This is NOT a cap nerf.
This doesn't change tactics either. On every different class of ship, the hardpoints will be in different places. The user can choose where he wants to place what turrets where (within the set hardpoints)
I dont like the idea about turret splitting, it takes away the freedom of choice for capship players... for me personally its a capship nerf too. Now is Disco one step closer to Crossfire mod where every single capship has the same setup despite it looks different... i hope this wont go the same way

yeah, many changes has came the last weeks, any noticed the amount of players.....
between black and white - there is a lot of grey - and "different" does not mean better or worse.... it just means different.
in essence it is a "give and take" - many a capital warships gain a lot of turrets - but sacrifice the total freedom of choice in terms of weapons. - but lets be serious....
- currently you can mount 12 heavy mortars on a mako - but why would you do it when you can only fire 1 anyway
- yes, you can mount two heavy mortars if you lack a full 360 degrees turretmount - so you can still fire anywhere - so that is a choice to be sacrificed on "some" ships when it comes to the splitting
- many ships - especially heavy caps GAIN light mounts in order to mount PD turrets. ( eg.: zoner juggernaut now: 16 universal turrets, zoner juggernaut then: 22 split turrets )
like i said before - it is a way for us to make capital warships different in yet another way. - some caps come with generous turret arcs - others do not. some are capable of mounting heavy weapons only in front arcs - others may be able to mount them on 360 arcs. - maybe the ones with front arc only make up for it by being able to mount 2 medium turrets with a 360 degrees arc, while the ones with a 360 heavy arc can only mount medium weapons on front arcs then.
all in all - it gives capital warships "more personality" other than
- hitpoints
- number of weapons mountable
currently - capital warship fights are predictable. - we only have 3 different sets of powercores, a number of turrets and hitpoints ... and even someone in elementry can do the math and often predict who s going to win before the first shot is fired.
in capfights today - the main factor to win a pvp is to know when and where to attack, cause even someone with a vision impediment can hit another battleship.
or to make it short:
- TRY the new system first when it comes out. - NO ONE can tell if it really works... but if we are not ready to take DARING steps in terms of balance, we won t get far.
- turret splitting is a daring step. no one will deny that it might be desastrous, but it might also be awesome. or it does nothing at all to the balance, who knows. but we won t know if we don t try.
i d back up turret splitting 100% ... and only after a sufficient public beta testing phase there s going to be room for real critizism.
