turret steering / zooming

hmm... i dont see big problems with it. for all ships I got, turrets steering is a gread addition.

exept one or two little things.

GBs are badass now. maybe a little bit too much.

fighters should be able to use it too. just like we had it at the very beginning.
dont see why they shouldnt be able to use it while everything else can.

From what I experience, even when fighting rather good GB pilots, a group of people is still able to take down a Gunboat without losses.

However, tha fact a GB can't be defeated by one or two snubs (mostly) is intended and only aids the purpose of a Gunboat.

Fighters shouldnt be able to use it because it would give them too much power i.e. too big field of view.

Also, I think the distance to which you can zoom out is a bit too much, it should be less because right now it makes aiming too easy.

i dont see a problem in this since its a RP not a PvP server.
For PvP whores it is not a advantage... yeah.
but for players who focus on RP and their PvP skills are limited... for those it is good.
everyone can aim now. why not? just bad for PvP whores and bluemsg hunters.

I dont see why anyone should have any advantages. And the term PvP whores is really widely overused.

Also, if its just RP server and no one cares about advantages, then why are people so afraid of dying and would do just about anything to win? You arent really making much sense right now.

Yes that's right, thanks. You no longer have to turn the ship to maintain camera view on target in default view, since now you can turn the camera and turn the ship at the same time. This makes turning agility less important. It is still helpful to be agile of course, so that you can get to your enemy's weak spot before he gets to yours, but it used to that turning was mandatory to even shoot the target (keep the reticle on the target), now you dont have to as much.

Another thing... everything about this game is optimized for lateral combat, and this is also true with turret steering. For example the camera can get weird when you start trying to run vertical loops, sometimes the camera will stop moving when it reaches the top of the "sphere" that it uses, and you have to tug on it to get it moving again. As a result of this favoritism towards lateral combat, tall ships are at a disadvantage over flat ships. Its been that way for a while of course (the game has always favored lateral combat) but there are new problems with it in turret steering, and flat ships have even more of an advantage than before.

I agree, its ez-mode with the full zoom, half-zoom is plenty

+1 except for huge chunky battleships that are at a disadvantage vs snubs already. But for transports it could be cut down to half the zoom length, and it would be fair.

In this way of thinking I want to say that the heavy cruiser arcs still sux and that the cruisers are even weaker then they were now.

Heavy cruisers have always sucked. To big, and slow for thier firepower. But the smaller cruiser's are truely awesome. My liberty siege cruiser is a blast to fly. I have killed 3 bombers at a time with it. 2 GBs at a time. Fighters are just funny when they come in trying to mine it. Slender and agile is just awesome.

It was never meant for fighters/bombers. that is why. That was a bug, and it was fixed.

As said above. Those who try to turret steer in GB 1 on 1 will get pawned by the above average pilot. Turret steering means no E-Kill, and as such a good GB pilot will just keep his front on you, and pound away with every gun, while turret steering fool has on side arcs at most times.
