I'm glad another smuggling company is appearing. With the current blockades you could make much more cash and accomplish some awesome roleplay.
Feel free to browse trough OTC wiki http://www.discoveryfl.com/wiki/index.php/OTC even though OTC is dead the wiki still looks neat. Use the template for your wiki or anything else that might help you. Keep in mind that no self respecting smuggler will want to reach you and join you unless they're bored
you should aim at new people (have Angels send you those that want to be unlawful) and at old bored people that want a new job (like teaching new people how to run fast)
Going back a bit, but it was Mentira that sanctioned Trafalgar Junkers past smuggling operations with the Corsairs.
Created all sorts of RP & really helped solidify what we did.
Still grateful.
Always had respect for Junkers that were thinking outside of the box. I suggest you round up the people under a skype and simply start trading. What Taffic said already, no tags would be a win and since there's now /si command it means that you can all define yourself there.
But we can go in depth of a faction tag. Why is it there at all? It is there to ease up the communication between members in game. Easily inviting people in the group and easily doing whatever (within the game).
Getting some sort of communication outside of the game (skype, xfire) helps you actually chat without being in group and thus not being figured out at all.
If you still want to be able to figure each other out just add some secret into a name of your character. For example there are many words that contain TIP in them. Just make sure those letters are big in your name while others are small and ta-daa new members even recognize each other without /fi
but this is all easily bypassed by skype. People make mess out of some things.

Well if they roll without tags they get +1 to metagame defence, if they do use a tag they can go official with it and have their hours tracked. All a matter of what you want. Plus if they do their job right, nobody will ever know they're smuggling.

That is the main idea. Half the action and cool stuf should be on the forum thread. Like the captains exchanging run stories /real of fabricated :rolleyes:/. Remember - there should be no ingame deal making. All the contracts shall be made on the forum. RP chat about deals and runs shall not apear at all in local or system chat, and be held to a minimum even in group. Half the fun will be the storytelling.

I get that the tag is going to be on the radar all the time, but trying to make a name for us is the first goal I guess, means we misslead people to make them belive that we are just a shipping company with legal trade route, we do this for a few days while we establish the contacts we need. then we start smuggling hoppfully without no one knowing about it.
and am very sure there is many ways to do that, and like kidd said this going to be most about RP not power smuggling.
and somtimes we are going to do the legal trade, and am guessing thats the new members job for the first day or so.
most of the unlawful pirate do have thier own smuggling ring yes, but they do this with great risk becouse they are wanted and easly spoted, it will be a lot easy for them to let us do thier smuggling for them, less risk for thier pilots that is.
//thanks for the wiki link, didnt know there was a smuggling faction, they look a lot pros too ;)
This sounds like a lot of fun. I'd be totally up for it.
I also like the idea where someone said in another thread, that freighters/small transport could carry illegal things over to the planet from a pirate transport.
Smuggling might be harder with some metagamers with "TIP" thing, but it could work well.
