Daedric's idea is great. I support this.

I think its a good idea, except for the pirate part, for reasons stated by cannon.

Although it does seem kind of dumb that you advertise your a pirate, I don't see an easy way around it.

The current ID system treats Freelancers as the lawful side of the the Pirate ID.

Yeah this, the current set up does make things much more 'clear' ingame.

I support this as well, and agreed on the not over-thinking it.

As said before, keep Pirate ID separate so that traders will actually trust a freelancer long enough to RP/hire him. The rest can be lumped. Would like to see availability for gunboats remain for freelancers, RP potential there is good for exploration and escort ships.

The current ID system treats Freelancers as the lawful side of the the Pirate ID.

But Cannon, Freelancers can take unlawful contracts, while Pirate ID can't do bounties. It's not exactly the same.

Though I've noticed... Unlawfuls prefer Mercs over Freelancers for the ID choice. Just a notice.

What Daederic said.

I would like to see Freelancer and Mercenary ID separate, though. One for lawful work and one for unlawful. The same for Independent Trader and Smuggler. Differences in ID rules and rephacks will give them a second life.

I'd keep em the same, you rep hack a smuggler you kill his game play/ship forever. Instead, make em KoS or Bounty the heck outa em.

Problem of Smuggler ID is in the players that use it and the players who they run into. Contraband isn't the end of life - it's a reason for a good and interesting roleplay - and even if you are rephacked - it's not a sanction - it's just declaring you 'wanted' House-wide. I'll consider it a reason for some special and interesting story about bribing and fixing your rephack, though, I can't say for sure.

I was only on Police's side.
