I found out, that if you target another ship in space, it name appears, you can see the distance from it to you.
And there is another number, that you can see:
So, obviously this number shows the level of the charakter. Yes, yes, now i know, too.
I played Freelancer from ~2004, and reached Disco ~3,5 years ago. As you can see, i signed on forum 3 years in the past.
I am not a newbie, it seems. But believe me or not: I found that level-thingie out only ~5 month ago.
Ok, i needed 2 weeks, from the start, until i recognized, that i can move a zoomed in system map by click and drag, but this level-thingie is awesome. As i found out the meaning of the number, i thought: 'What a handy tool... since when we have that?'
Around ten seconds later, i thought: 'Crap, i guess it is hardcoded since 2003...'
Blind spot it seems. I felt ashamed more than a bit, being such a blind guy, that i have waited 5 month. But now i will share this nice lil' story about failiure...
Did you experienced a similar blind spot on you own game-eyes? If so, please post.
Others are invited to give a polite comment, thank you.

You know, out of all the things mentioned in this thread, only this and the sub-target active guns thing escaped me this long. And here I was thinking I had seen everything...
I only recently figured out you can set destination waypoints even to different systems - useful if you're not used to cruising through house space. Open map - Go to the Galaxy view, zoom into the system you want to travel to, then set a waypoint by the "get quickest path to" option. Doesn't work everywhere though, not all systems seem to have mappings for em...

That's cuz the only way to get there is through Jump Holes. All 'quickest paths' are through Jump Gates.
Stop it.Seriously, stop whining.Stop Q_Qing and stop trolling.Stop exaggerating things which are minor, stop whining about stuff which happens every time the blue moon appears.Stop Q_Qing because people do not comply to your wishes. This is not your personal universe where you can lord everyone around and judge people using your emotions.Think logically.Think.Just think.
I'm gone.Goodbye.
If you want to find and chart the quickest way to certain location, get a friend and group up first, then go to starting point and ask friend to take mission in destinated system. This way waypoints will include even unmapped jump holes. Even Gallia - Crete should work, though I tried only in Liberty this.
Or you can do it solo. Get mission in destinated system, fly to another house and it will keep adding waypoints for quickest routes back.

Also thank you for the gravedig. I know, that not all players here have these blind spots. But those that have, should have the chance to learn...:D
Also, i am interested also in perhaps something hidden, which i didn't know.

Wow, thanks. Funny thing. I guess it was recognized by an error in the first time?
By accident to be honest. Was going to Ontario to rep ship and had a friend there starting missions already. So while being near Mojave/Riverside waypoint to uncharted Jump Hole popped on Nav Map.
Other times in was in convoys... Silly nub took mission in Leeds while I was at Manhattan. Got waypoints to it =/
