Fact: IT'S A DANG GAME! NOT REAL LIFE!
Yet you (as in traders) are the ones taking things too seriously and making a big deal about it.

But you CAN be a douche as well. It's up to the player to decide which way to play. You're just trying to impose your idea of gameplay on others, whereas they might not agree.

Charging someone completely all of their profits for one run, or all of their cargo, isn't enjoyable to anyone but the pirate, which isn't what this game is about. Someone doesn't waste 30 minutes to an hour mining, just to get all of his cargo taken away. That just produces anger, and anger being the price of RP is completely and utterly wrong.

EDIT: And just before anyone goes "it's the traders fault for getting mad!", no, the blame is not solely on the trader for getting angry, the blame is also on the pirate for showing a lack of thinking from the other player's standpoint.

I'm not going to tell people how to RP, that's not what Disco is about. However, you would be hard pressed to find someone who would actually say "nope, the game is only meant to be fun to the pirate, and screw the player playing the trader", but that is what it seems like now days... Gameplay is a two way street, not just a one way street for the pirate, with that said, the trader should also reach out to the pirate as well.

I mean, come on, you can't actually say that what I said about everyone respecting each other is wrong, if everyone would, the game would become a lot more enjoyable for everyone...

It's not that you're wrong, it's that you can't tell people how to roleplay.

Also, traders not only disrespect pirates more than they disrespect traders, but they actually hate them (not everyone, of course, but as a general rule).

That doesn't mean the pirate is right to be a douche, it means the trader shouldn't complain.

On an another note, complaining that the pirate is too harsh it's still the trader's fault, imo. If you're not prepared accept the consequences. Or call other people douches...

Traders hate pirates so much because so many of the pirates started charging ridiculous amounts of money, or all their cargo, so the root is to the pirate in that case.

I also don't see the logic in how it is the trader's fault if a pirate charges him extensively, is it the pirates fault of the trader just says nothing and thrusts on or keeps going to cruise? No, so how is it the trader's fault the other way around?

It's his fault because he got caught to begin with, or isn't equipped well enough to survive the encounter. Most of the pirates pirate solo...even a basic armour and full regens will allow you to survive most encounters. But why toss an AU8 on a trader when we need CAU8 dreads?

Perhaps the pirates should ask the traders if they can pirate them and for how much. Mercenaries will ask their prey if they are okay with being shot. Let's apply that for all characters.
Let's remove all the challenge from the game and turn it into one big theater where all encounters are run by a script on which all involved parties agreed on. No one will ever loose unless he choices to.
Nobody hurt, no pain.

Feel free to track me down and charge me more than I will profit, I've paid pirates in the past asking for 6 million for a load that will make me 1.

I still end up making money from it, maybe not as fast, but I don't get mad just because I don't make money as fast as I WANT to.

Nice attitude... I would be ready to do the same, though only in case if there is good RP involved.. and I have the money..

But when you just restarted and cannot even afford 1 decent ship.. taking all you have is quite pissing

You forgot to mention PvP Aces hurting PvP newbies. That's not enjoyable for everyone, but it happens, it's why the term pvp-whore was created and so heavily used, right? Or a Liberator versus a Barghest. Those two encounters aren't most enjoyable for the losing side.

It's role play, you can't always be nice. Sometimes the role makes you a douche, sometimes it makes you a saint. Depends on the character.

Can't deny it, though robbing someone who actually has quite the savings is different. I once was nearly busted in a gull when I lacked money, the bomber demanded 2 mil from cargo worth less and brought with my last few credits. I know how it feels, but once you move up and earn some more credits, you'll realise it was just a minor bad experience.

Fault for what?

Pirates and traders aren't supposed to like each other. It's supposed to be hostile, mean, unforgiving, and rude. That's piracy. Do you not understand that?

If you don't like getting pirated, hire a damn escort and defend yourself properly instead of whining incessantly on the forums. If you don't, I'm going to take your money, whether you think it's proper RP or not.

Some people can't seem to accept that not everything you do in a competitive game will end up in everyone feeling so good they're shooting rainbows out of their ears. More importantly, since this is a roleplay server, not everything your character experiences is going to be positive, and again some people can't accept that.

Sterlin is one of those people.
