Simple sollution: Change techcharts so Pirate ID cannot use Kusari civilian vessels (red or atleast white).
It doesnt make sense that an Kusari house company (that builds and sells Kusari civil vessels) openly supports general criminal Elements (pirate ID) in any other house than Bretonia. And in Bretonia its already set green for Gaians for example.
I find it generaly odd that Pirates may use so many of "the best" vessels (PTrans, Sabre, Ahoudori etc.) siriuswide while other ID`s are so heavily capped.
Rheinland Company Daumann for instance builds all the Rheinland "Military" vessels (Wrath, Bergelmir, Rheinland Gunboat etc.) but may not use them without permission and Daumann got rejected Wrath by RM multiple times even if i recall that right.
The MOD-makers give Pirates all the candy and cap civilians exessivly.
I always hear that argument about "supporting Teamplay" aka "so get an escort" against Traders complain but it seems in "Pirate Teamplay" its exactly the opposite agenda for an Ahoudori-Pirate is supported by the MOD-makers in soloing* even an complete Convoy with escorts. (*as our wellknown Rip.Red.Rorry, who is actualy just now officialy asking zoner permissions for 10 Zoner Gunboat Turrets(one guess for what vessels exactly!), has proven to be able to multiple times.)
IMHO MOD-makers have some seriouse revisions to do around unlawefuls for an acceptable Balance.
It's not that these houses are supplying civilian tech to the pirates. It's because civilian tech is so widely available and far far less controlled then millitary tech. The purpose for the wide availability and less control is because they are meant for the run of the mill civilian (yeah it appears some companies sell top dollar ships to civilians ie: Eagles, Sabres, Yacht etc..) and so a side effect of that is such things get in the hands of criminals who go shopping without wearing the leather biker jacket on and purchase a ship like any other civilian.

That, or some companies simply don't care whom they sell to, they want the cash.
Or the blueprints to build them become available on the black market through more nefarious means. Many pirate guard systems come with shipyards, after all.
Criminals and pirates aren't always born on Crete or Malta. I don't see why they would magically lose any chance at owning a commercially available House vehicle.
For myself I am an optimist - it does not seem to be much use being anything else.

The only way an Ahoudori is a real threat to a trader is if you're caught rather far from safe haven, and you're flying a very heavy vessel. It cant bring its guns to bear nearly fast enough, and its awkward firing arcs mean that turret view is barely useful. Not to mention its paper armor.
Also, if you have your view distance set to "high", the thing can be seen clearly from around 20k out. On most lanes, that means that even a cursory glance ahead can tip you off to its presence, and thus allow you to call in backup.
The thing's next to useless, unless you're pirating in remote space or on a VERY, VERY long tradelane.
I think his argument was that it is not overpowered, and that it does not need a change mate. His opinion on how well he can escape from it are from his own experience. Perhaps a tip to other traders trying to avoid KuEx's.

I can also start turning earlier, because your ship probably doesn't have a cd to counter my e-kill.
But I agree with you that it's considerably easier to run from, in certain situations - like in front of the gate.
If a trader jumps back trough the gate, he can usually get to the lane before you manage to disrupt it.
Considering your average pirate and your average trader, I honestly would not expect this kind of tactical awareness from a trader. I don't think an average pirate would either. Considering that four out of the last five people I pirated could hardly speak english, that is. Still, if you don't charge your engines until you are past the pirate, you have a significant chance of escaping. Countermeasures, contrary to popular belief, do help when one needs to hit both your engines in the front of your ship and the countermeasures are in the back.
' Wrote:Bacon just a heads, gunboats thrust 20m/s faster than a transport. you cant out thrust them. Their razors also outrange everything you have, and anyone who flies a medium or large tranpsort can tell you, Train Cd will almost never go for even the heavy CM's, or ENH, nevermind the crappyer ones.
Pretty much your only hope is to pay up or have a freakin gunboat PAIR as your own escort. and thats just dealing with one gunboat or bomber, and if its a bomber the transport dies anyway.
It is ten m/s faster, but point anyway. If you can get out to 1.5k from a pirate gunboat, you have a good ability to either leapfrog him or dodge those nasty razors and pulses. Or frustrate the heck out of him if you have a civilian shield. By the time that 10 m/s difference pays dividends, you've made some good space.
Also, my CDs seem to have a lot of trouble tracking unless they're Mosquitos, so I think instead of cursing CMs I'll just continue to restock them for the once-in-a-lifetime chance they work

[12:49:19 AM] Elgatodiablo: You know its nice that you have all that proof and all, Bacon... but I just don't believe you.
There's also a nice trick called pre-charged cruise. It's a great thing, allows you to run, especially from gunboats.
