I just got the Mod as well. I wanted a Mod that would allow Capital ship player control in SP. This mod looked like the best one out there because of all the content it added.
Starting at level 38 is actually something I REALLY like, because restricting a player from buying a ship because of his level is one of the dumbest aspects I have ever seen in a space sim. However this problem seems to be solved so:).
Now, the OP stated you can sell the Admin shield? It seems this is the only real cheat that adversely affects gameplay that I can see. All other equipment seems to be starting equipment. Basic everything and no weapons. I did notice that some items are greyed out in the Equipment buy screen (they are really expensive and/or high-end). Is this due to my ship not being compatible and/or my Reputation not being high enough? Or both?
Overall it looks very promising. However I have no interest whatsoever in MP and the features list for this Mod said nothing about it being "ideal" for MP.
Thank you all for your time and I look forward to reading responses
Click on the item and it will tell you why you cant have it. Usually either dont have a slot for it or your reputation with the seller isn't high enough
One thing to remember about Freelancer - Multiplayer = Singleplayer with other players.
Honestly, aside from the campaign (Which you can't play with the Disco mod installed), singleplayer is exactly the same as multiplayer, except it lacks other people.
Yes there are some rules etc but you can join servers without those.
Mostly, the rules are sensible enough anyway.
Thanks guys. Two more questions:
How do I mine in this game? The mining lasers you can get all come with a caveat: you have to have a "hull designed to handle proper processing of mined material". Can someone explain this?
Also, what happened to the Tractor Beams? How am I supposed to acquire loot/commodities floating in space?
Thanks in advance.
The Mining Guide will help you out. All you need is a ship that can mount a mining turret, and either a Miner ID or a faction ID and IFF to get a bonus from this list.
Tractor beams are included in your ID, all of them have the usual 1500M range, but some of them have pretty colours.
Okay, one final question regarding Cap ships, specifically carriers:
Is it possible to launch NPC Fighters from them? I'm reading their wiki pages and it says they can, but I suspect its only when NPCs control them?

I don't think there are any NPC carriers in-game (apart from stationary bases like the Hades). Player ones cannot actually carry anything a battleship/transport couldn't, but once the developers work out the bugs with Docking Modules, ships that can equip them will be able to carry other player ships (not sure how big, but at least fighters and bombers I'd think).
So your saying in any event, it will be a feature only available in MP, due to the fact that the only fighters/bombers that can be docked in a carrier are player controlled only?
