Your games will be slower. Windows 7 isn't really a viable option for hardware that old, it'll run though, however the Radeon 9600 will not be able to use any other theme then classic or windows basic, correct me if I'm wrong.
You can however, nlite your xp and try and make it run better.
For netbooks I've worked on, I've installed a special version of xp with absolutely everything stripped except the bare essentials.
It uses 40mb of ram and never passes 60% of cpu usage. Such stripping was necessary if I wanted a low end netbook to run netflix correctly.

Unfortunately I'm not a pro in such things. This PC I have now used to have Win 7 installed. But it was used only for music. The thing is: I want Win7 because it seems more stable to me, but I would like to be able to play FL. Can't be worse than now, 15-30 fps.
What Beauregard said. Your Pc is too old for 7.
Unfortunately M$ does not offer updates and support for XP since couple of months. 7 needs 2 GB Ram minimum to run proper, your best bet is to find some cut version as he said- so you can have the best performance that your parts can deliver.
