Would it be possible to remove the weapon slot level requirements for guns?
Now hear me out before you go flaming.
Reason I ask is because the ships power alone should really be all that is taken into consideration and all balancing done around.
Maybe have a recomended power level, but not have it forced.
Choosing different combinations of weapons should be a bit more flexable.
Do you want many small weapons or one powerful weapon?
It would be a balance, see... a starflier could mount like a DIAMONDBACK, however, it will only be able to shoot it 2-3 times before power is drained, and that should be the pilots decision to make.
Sombody that isnt careful how they outfit there ship will have there energy depleted in a very short time. perhaps the person may know that but doesnt matter since they are doing jousting and can charge inbetween.
Any reasons exactly why this couldnt be done? A starflier can already hold a ripper mine launcher.
But it would be nice to at least be able to fit that class whatever weapon on it, even if it does have horrible effeciency, its a trade off for slower but hard hitting firepower so that small ships can outfit for use against larger ships that it cant even scratch even with stun pulse, at the sacrifice of sucking more against ones of there size.
Any reasons why?
In discovery, it doesnt matterhow good you are, the larger ships cannot be beaten under any circumstances by a small cheap ship... unless theres like a hundred of them, and then most of them die
A starflier cannot launch a nuke mine, the energy level on the thing is so low, so I do not see the problem. Moreover, is a starflier really that much more manuverable than a LFmk2, which actually can, right now, fire 4 cannonballs?
