Chris smiled as he thanked her and proceeded to put his guitar next to him against a wall. "That's just a sample. I'll do more later on, both acoustic and plugged in with a good variety of different themes."
He poured himself another glass, topping off Amber's as well, "I would like to know more about you. There really isn't much to me as I've had a pretty quiet life....thus far."
Taking a sip from her glass, she though for a moment"Not much else I can say about my life...Save a few things about my sisters...who rarely speak to me anymore, but that's what happens when one is a Order captain and the other is a smuggler..."She let out a breath saying that, as if getting something off her chest
He was holding his glass as she sighed in relief. "We all choose our paths. Still she's your sister, even if you have different ideals from each other."
He took a sip of his wine and set his glass down, "I won't ever know about sibling rivalries. I'm an only child. My parents were career people and considering the direction I chose, they felt I was a handful."
He then gave a light chuckle, "Like I said, they still wonder when I'll get a real job, when or if I'll ever marry or have a family. I always tell them the same thing on those rare occasions that I speak to them, I answer 'In do time.'"
"So no brothers or sisters huh? I have the two, Milly and Aelita like I said...we don't fight or anything, its one of those cases where you have not seen your family for so long you don't know how they changed..."Taking a sip from her glass, looking to the side for a moment"Tell me then, what did your parents do again? Pardon but I think I forgot..."She gives of a slight smile
"That's OK," he smiled, "My father is a business executive while Mom is a veterinarian on planet Los Angeles. Neither of those are my kind of life style."
He sighed, "We don't talk very often but I still love them."
As they sat, a member of the bar staff approached, "Mr. DeGarmo, if you want, you can have the stage. Many of the regulars miss your playing."
Chris smiled politely, "Thank you but...." He made a motion with his hand to Amber, ".....I'm having a dinner date tonight. It'll have to wait."
The man respectfully nodded, "Of course" and slipped away.
"Sorry," he said to Amber, "I can play anytime but I'd rather enjoy our time."
She leaned back on her chair, taking in the silence for a full minute before relaxing slowly"Dang I think sitting in space to long is starting to get to me.."
"I know the feeling," replied Chris, "you spend so much time in the bridge of your ship and these stations seem like a welcomed reprieve but before long, you miss being planet side somewhere."
Chris thought a moment of his Canaria condo that he hadn't seen in quite some time. He smiled at the thought and the natural beauty of Gran Canaria. He folded his hands before him and leaned on them a bit.
"Amanda, have you been to Gran Canaria? Perhaps in the near future we can visit. I think you will like it there."
As they spoke, the food arrived. As Chris prepared to eat, he placed his napkin on his lap and inspected his fish with a fork. It was flaked just right. He then took a bite, closing his eyes a moment to savor the flavor. He then smiled as he swallowed,
"I do hope yours came out as good as mine."
