I think I have so much trouble enjoying anime because it feels like I've already seen it before the first season is even over. The animation feels very 'snap-to-grid' with swift and solid motions and the content tends to be hyperbolic.
Going with the comparison with Avatar, I loved the fluidity and full range of motion the characters' bodies possessed; more organic and realistic. Also, it helped that the only person capable of the aforementioned hyperbolicism was a bender with the combined power of a thousand lifetimes coursing through his body. It seemed a reasonable explanation within the realm of the universe.
With many animes (specifically ones dealing with superhuman powers of some kind), I feel as though everybody in the story is an Avatar. It follows characters that are super powerful by default, and their adventures and conflicts with equally super powerful enemies. Sure, there is an implied civilian populace, but in the end every fight is Goku vs. Vegeta with megadeathattacks being shrugged off and lines implying quickly moving limbs dashing the screen. As such, I become desensitized to the power of the characters and it becomes stale.
when I was little, I liked anime simply because it was animated. The style simply didn't matter...after I got older, I tried to get into it because it was a way for me to dig on the vibe of another culture...I watched a bunch of 'em off & on for years, but the only ones that were memorable were Ninja Scrolls, Akira & Bebop (& even those had more aspects of style & presentation that irritated me than impressed me) I simply don't have the taste for the whole thing & to this day, I couldn't give a rat's ass if an anime is touted as the best thing produced in the world for the past 200 years, if it's anime, it's simply impossible for it to be good enough for me.
Hate, nah. But honestly, i thin anime is (usually) overrated. Sure, there' some great ones (i grew up with Dragon Ball and Dr Slump, among others. Alonside many western ones like G.I.Joe). To be honest most modern Anime can't match the good ol' 80's 90's animes in terms of story or originality

I bet there is plenty of people who share your hatred toward anime/manga
but I didn't see a point of that topic...
Personally I do not like cats - but, do I start topic "Any cat haters?" NO
since simply I do not care - are you or are you not cat lover.

True dat, but venters gotta vent & this is one of those threads where the majority of haters are gonna post some hate
that's the point
It's just one of those things where you have to ask youself: if you don't see the point in the thread while it compelled you to make a point of posting in it, you don't see the point that the point is ultimately a point in and of itself?
Some people consider Avatar: The Last Airbender anime, but I can't since it's such a deviation in artistic style and lacks both oversized eyes and awkwardly pulsing forehead veins. As such, my love of Avatar is not in conflict with my hatred of anime.
-Edit- Also, it's American.
What if I told you oversized eyes are absent or way realistic in majority of adult oriented manga (Kozure Okami, Sword of the Immortal?)

Akagi. But this one is kinda hard for the audience that does not understand rules of mahjong (to be honest, I started watching it while not even knowing a single rule), yet very good show about "how to destroy human". But, once again I say that:
It's fault of distributors in the west.
I would point out LoGH as a good example of the anime that is good but is not licensed outside Japan. There's plenty of anime that I would LOVE to see on my DVD collection (and are not big-bust fantasy magic superpower shows), because of their more adult (I mean: serious) oriented attitude.
Moreover I have watched Clannad. And played it (visual novel) and I just simply can't think why someone would hate every anime because of something? Clannad is kinda masterpiece that made me LITERALLY cry - what is strange because I rarely do that, as an adult man. Many cat videos were to be watched to made me laugh again, shush.
