Essential Things You Need to Remember, Discovery Freelancer Edition
1. Always roleplay before engaging.
2. Don't reenter same system or reengage enemy for 2 hours (unless he has left the system or logged off, that has to apply to all enemies involved in the fight)
3. Read your ID.
Also, a huge rule to remember, in Disco OR in life;
If you have to ask whether or not the thing you just did is cool or not, it's not.
Guilt has a funny way of telling you exactly when you're wrong - regardless of endless rationalization.
Unless you're a sociopath, in which case you're going to break rules no matter what constraints you try to put on your actions.

You forgot a small addendum to rule 2. You can reenter system with another character if other player(s) agreed on that.

That's not at all true, really. People have different perceptions, different levels of consciousness. Guilt is approached differently within different cultures, it's sensitive to that as well. Lastly, some religions gravitate around 'guilt', where others gravitate around 'shame' and other things. All in all we all have different dispositions. So yeah, better ask to be sure, and no you asking doesn't make you guilty.

Fixed it for you. Uncertainity or lack of knowledge are not the determining factors when it comes to what is cool and what isn't. The administration's and the community's acceptance however is. Don't be shy to ask, nobody should bite off your head for doing so.
EDIT: Damn ninja.
@OP
Checking the contents of your ID once in a while as well as visiting the sanction forums for self-educational reasons can help a lot to memorize the most frequently broken rules, aka the main things you should keep in mind.
Also I've got no clue why this is in Discovery Mod General Discussion, the subject is rather rule-related.
