I know people are debating whether or not conn should be in the game or not, and I can see merit to both points of views, but this thread is not about that.
I am wondering why conn is so boxed in by those minefields? It can make PVP more difficult than in most of the "real" systems and there's no real point to it - it's not like players are going to fight in those conditions on a regular basis outside of conn.
So I am suggesting to either remove the minefields altogether or simply making conn 2-3 times as big, so the minefields don't have to be a factor during pvp practice. In my mind, the best thing would be a vast, open system with perhaps one snub-only area accessible through a jumphole.
Is this possible in a fast and easy way? Devs don't have to put a whole lot of thought into it - in fact, I think the reason conn is a bit borked the way it is now is because devs put too much consideration into it and over-did it.

A modified model of the Dyson Sphere might work for this, you place a mine field around an area, and the only way inside is through a few small snub-sized holes in a vertically flipped Dyson Sphere from Omicron Major.
IIRC though, the other side the Dyson Sphere is transparent, so it might be a little tricky.

There should be New Haven and then a minefield box around that. Just outside of New Haven there should be several jump holes that lead to different zones.
Each area should massive but still have a mine field box around it so you can't intrude into the wrong fights. Mine fields should have a weak outer layer that will only scratch a vessel and then just after that (For if people decide to try and get into another Arena) there should be a mine field with stupendously high damage. Each Arena should have it's own Planet and Minor station to dock on.
doesnt have to look cool or take a whole lot of effort, its just a pvp system. if they could upscale it or just removes mines in the foreseeable future, I'd be happy. nothing fancy, just efficient at what it is supposed to do - the less work, the faster it could be done.
