- We all know the current situation. There is a green light from the parliament for Interspace to return, something in which we had no small part, if I may point that out. Naturally, we need to start from something. Nearly 95% of Sirian diamonds pass through Omega-11 - Stuttgart jump gate, mined by our corporation. The gate lacks maintenance except the most basic repairs conducted by Ageira, since that unfortunate misunderstanding with between Rheinland government and previous Interspace board. Limited scale of initial operation, O-Eleven gate repair would be good start of wider return to Rheinland both Interspace and DSE. We aren't endangered on a mass scale during point-centered repair operation, which from the very nature of itself is easier to secure. Moreover, our cooperation in that matter can be coordinated faster and easier if we start from relatively small-scale operation, not outright attempt to check and conduct repairs on all the trade lanes and jump gates. Experience from such "proving ground" would be invaluable.
John sits idly, listening in to the discussion between Jacob and Dieter with an earnest interest. It's been many years since Deep Space Engineering was heavily invested in Rheinland and it's appearing to be shaping up to a point where developments in this discussion are pointing to something more than he initially thought was possible.
-"Experience from such "proving ground" would be invaluable."
John intervenes "If I am correct in understanding thus far, you're requiring a larger co-operation from us in developing a gateway to allow more of your trade to flow through Omega Eleven? It's been a while since we've had the opportunity to conduct any larger projects with Rheinland corporations, but rather more recently against them such as the ALG with their blatant thefts of our resources and aggression in Liberty space. It is a real relief to be able to find a means to put an end to this stagnant aggression between our Houses and finally work together. We're prepared to do what we can to prove that it isn't war we want, but rather to profit mutually."
John leans forward and looks directly at Dieter "Mittermeier, you have mine and Deep Space Engineering's full support."
- I'm glad to hear that, Mr. Doe. I'm not asking for development of Omega-11 gate, but mere maintenance, although, who knows... You are the ones who construct and repair that technology, you know is development possible in here, not me. As you know, since that unspeakeably bad decision two years ago, Interspace ban, Rheinland network of lanes and gates wasn't maintained properly; only the most basic repairs were carried out, and only when federal government found few spare credits in its budget, quite often credits moved away from other projects, such as internal security, social wealthcare programs and so on. Now, with agreement on Baden-Baden, things may slowly return to normal state of affairs, and we are ready to help in that, given we can cooperate together. Shouldn't be a problem, as I hear.
Rheinlander looked at Wells, as it seemed he wanted to say something.
Wells nods his head twice. He really didn't have much to say in this situation, he was here as a financial presence. The Commerce knew next to nothing when it came to the technology that needs repairs, that was why Deep Space was currently present.
"Profit on all sides is not something which will happen right away. I've looked through the numbers a few times, this opportunity is to be taken as an investment. One that will pay off very well in the future however if it's complete. The economy of Rhienland isn't the most.. compatible with Liberty currently seeing they both are at different standings. Although once the raw resources are going in and out of the house again, that will slowly start to fix itself. Trade lanes and Jumpgates will only speed up that process. I see that we all are willing to take the risk."
Letting the two continue their discussion. Watching carefully for anything he might have a say in.
"Dieter, I believe Daumann could benefit from this co-operation more than we know it. Resources are dwindling in Liberty and skilled workers too. Would Daumann be interested in taking on board some of the task Deep Space Engineering are struggling to keep up with?"
"Dieter, there is much to be told but I believe it would be much easier to show you. How about we conclude our proceedings here and I show you in person what it is we need assistance with?" Mr Doe smirks, "Would you care to meet at Freeport 2 in a weeks time, from there I can show you indepth what I would like our first project together will be."
"Freeport Two? Mhmm...This still is somewhat in the middle of warzone, although now it's more about deserter packs and pirates. But what about financial agreements and technical details we were meant to discuss with Jacob?"
"Financial matters can be handled with one method or another. We're indeed a cooperation which more than dabbles in the subject when it comes to financial matters. As far as the agreements stand, we're looking for things to be straightened out with a safety zone of success in order to prevent any major loss of value from our end of things. We already deal with DSE quite a bit with matters in Liberty space naturally, a collaboration between DSE and DHC isn't a very big step. All each of the projects need to be accounted for, is the simplest form. Loans and orders for lane parts. Base repairs. Any other examples of what we might be dealing with in the future. It generally fits in the same category.
It thankfully isn't the most difficult for us when it comes down to the technical aspects, even though we're including another party in our own work."
"Director Wells" - Mittermeier said, turning to Interspace man.
"Let's say we would start from something rather simple, Omega-11 gate maintenance. Is Interspace willing to provide insurance at discunted price for this repair project? You know there were issues stemming from misunderstanding after unfortunate ban of your corporation, we in Daumann would like to avoid them."
Wells and Doe for a fraction of second thought they saw sly sparkle in Rheinlander's eye.
"What assurance can we have hessian terrorists won't be able to dock at Interspace bases again? And that Interspace subcontractors won't be caught smuggling for hessians?"
The tone he said this in left no doubt for both Libertonians that's a matter of great importance for their Rheinlandic interlocutor.
