Electronic Attack Squadron 141 (VAQ-141), nicknamed "Shadowhawks" and operating under the callsign OUTLAW, is a ELZF-9806 Prowler squadron that is based out of the Battleship Rio Grande and subsequently Navy Attack Group North (NAVATTGRONOR), operating in Colorado and it's surrounding systems. It is comprised mainly of pilots from the recently disestablished Patrol squadron VP-7, similarly based on Rio Grande.
It is to be considered a reestablishment of the pre-Exodus Electronic Attack Squadron 141, an electronic warfare squadron previously serving under the United States, Liberty's predecessor, several thousand years ago. As a result, VAQ-141 holds a record for the longest date between reestablishment and disestablishment. Navy officials have not yet released a statement on why this squadron in particular was selected for reestablishment, or why a new squadron was not created.
They are planned to conduct standard patrol operations mainly in Kepler, with secondary areas of operation being Colorado, New York, and Galileo, likely in response to prior incidents along the Kusari-Liberty border. As they are to be the only operational Prowler squadron, presence is expected to be requested elsewhere within Liberty and it's surrounding border systems.
Officially, their mission is to "conduct patrols, provide accurate, up-to-date information on enemy or friendly positions and installations, and suppress and harass the enemies of the Republic of Liberty along the Kusari-Liberty border."
In a statement supposedly leaked by Lane Hackers early July 24, 821 AS, it is mentioned that VAQ-141 is to be operated jointly by Liberty Security Force intelligence agents and Liberty Navy pilots, with additional mention of "special privileges" granted to Navy pilots as they conduct "expeditionary operations for the LSF". The LSF and Navy have both denied the relinquishing of any "special privileges" and maintain that VAQ-141's primary mission to to protect Liberty and her borders. Aside from this one potential leak, most information regarding VAQ-141 is still classified.
Regardless of actual affiliation, VAQ-141 is still considered to be a part of the Department of the Navy, and as such follows standard Navy rules of engagement.
VAQ-141 is planned to consist of four ELZF-9805A Prowlers and support personnel, with each Prowler capable of using weaponry and parts standard to deployed Liberator vessels, including but not limited to:
