ALL computers are in the same work-group. Firewalls disabled and my Desktop won't detect the shared 750GB external Hard drive connected to my desktop downstairs.
I'm a complete networking n00b. I remember fixing this somehow last time, but I can't remember how. I am still running Windows XP SP2 on this machine. SP3 is on the machine downstairs.
I can ping my desktop from my laptop. But I can't ping my laptop from my desktop. Any ideas?

I just formated. I don't understand what could have gone wrong. Seriously. my laptop didn't have this problem, and its a fresh installation of windows also.
Is there a program or something I can run a diagnostic to see whats wrong?
