I was just wondering if it would be possible to increase the maximum money limits on characters. Currently I know it's set at 1.80-2bil before the character files corrupt and the server either deletes the character or resets the money. Now I was thinking, the limit of money you can carry had been increased in the past (browse through the readme and look at the changelogs) it might be able to be increase again?

By logic behind this is, if you have a higher maximum cap, you can charge higher for certain... *cough* things. As was suggested Carriers could get an up in price if player docking was implemented, but that's impossible seeing as they're almost at the top anyway.

Still, I see three possible reactions to this:

1) Wait 'til 8.45
2) This can't happen - 2bil is max
3) This is a good idea - more money!

What do you guys think anyway?

I think 2 bil is as high as we can feasibly push it. I don't think it's going any higher.

besides ... lets face it ... 1.9 billion is ENOUGH. - if you have traded that much - and you have no idea what to spend it on ..... give it to factions you respect or that you wanne support.

1.100.000.000 makes you lvl90 - after that, there is no more "reward" in terms of ranking - so nothing anyone can really see about your person. 1.9 billion gives you the freedom to:

- buy the most expensive ship there is ( 750.000.000 )
- buy a cap 8 armour ( 890.000.000 )
- buy ANY weapons you wish for your ship ( 200.000.000 )
- pay for ANY bribes that might be needed ( maybe 20.000.000 )

- and still have a few millions pocketmoney left ( probably enough to buy a medium transport )
[ you ll have like 1.860.000.000 spent - and so you got like 40.000.000 left - if you got really carried away when you were buying weapons - but really, not even a 18 hardpoint battleship will cost you 200m to equip ]

sooo - do we really need a cap increase?

Moreover, you can buy things using credit cards...have a ship with a couple 100 mill credit cards on it, transfer them to the seller's side while buying the ship....
So, effectively, your cargoslots can hold a great deal of money.

*shrugs*

I'm a poor player, my richest character has 30mil on it, and adding all my characters together I'd struggle to make 100mil. Based on this, a change like this wouldn't effect me much, but it could effect the prices of battleships and other high cost ships.

EDIT: The credit card thing really never occured to me. Heh. I suppose the danger is dieing while you have it on you

Or.... you could just create another character after money-maxing your first one, and then max him out too. And, if you have the time, create 5 characters and max them all out, having close to 10 billion..... and become the Bill Gates of Sirius.

I thought the limit was combined wealth? eg - ship, equipment, cargo - so wouldn't the credit cards have the same effect?

I think the point being raised was that the higher the cap price - the less capwhoring would be in effect... i guess.

I've ran into this issue a few times unfortunately. I made the mistake of giving one of my older characters too much cash and ended up with 2.2 billion. Bad idea it turns out but figured that out before any damage occured.
Since then I've been forced to use Luxory liners and credit cards. Not a great solution and quite risky I think but works relatively well.
All in all, if the credit limit could be increased, it would be a great help. If it created any risk to characters etc however, it's probably not worth it.

Whats the point of bushing Battleship price higher? Really? Or any ship for that matter.

There isnt any point for it to go higher.
You CANNOT. Stop people from goals. When they want a capital ship. They will get it hell or high water, I dont care if its 50 bil. They'll get it eventually. So imo there is no point.
