I like the idea of KotH events. It forces the players to compete rather than work together like in the PvE events, and gives PvP oriented players a slice of the "awesome server events!" pie.
It's odd, I feel like the Sigmas should be far more active than they are, given that plenty of factions can go there. Outside looking in, the situation in Delta seems to be calming down, so maybe we'll see the Core shift priorities to assist Rheinland against the Gas Miners. It'd make sense to have a KotH event in the Sigmas, given the plethora of factions with interests there.
I feel that part of the problem with the Sigma situation is that the Core/RM are capable of fielding plenty of capital ships, whereas the GMG have very few. In a tactical sense, the GMG in my mind have an advantage because their Kaichou bomber is one of the best in the game, and their gunship I hear is fairly solid, as well. Bombers to kill caps; gunships to kill fighters. And yet, bless people and their big walleted hearts - many prefer bigger capital ships over smaller vessels, both to fly themselves and to PvP against. It's an odd stigma that I feel may only be solved if Kusari ends up getting involved and fighting Rheinland. If that were to happen, we would likely see massive cap battles in the Sigmas.
Or, perhaps the stigma with the Sigmas is because it's unfriendly to caps? Maybe folks don't want to bother trying to shoot each other when they can't see what they're shooting at?
There is a more elaborate KOTH event that will require a patch + ID modifications planned for Delta this weekend, actually.
However I will try to sneak in a mini event for Sigmas today.

I really like King of the Hill events. I liked the one from Omega 3. Also the rewards
The BAF| would probably make their own event, for example by building a POB in Leeds or Omega 9, but although we have almost a billion on our bank account, we don't have an income and depend on donations, while these things cost. So, it would be awesome for us if the admins agreed with this idea and put it into action themselves -- and, I suppose, awesome for every other faction, too.

Cali would indeed be a good spot for something like this. Though promoting activity where perceived activity is high is kind of a vicious circle, no? What about others areas where local factions struggle to survive?
Special POBs with temporary access as cycling events rewards, housing unique facilities producing shiny toys could be a good replacement for those PVE events where worst enemies suddenly become best friends just because everyone wants loot, perhaps?
I agree. Maybe the POB could be made to produce or refine an expensive, special resource from Saigon's surface that the owner could export or even use to make something else. Something unique. It would even help boost piracy in the area, thus drawing in more activity.
Events with kill-reward seems like losing appeal lately.
Burning someone's PoB leaves bitter taste, imho. Please, no. PoBs are personal, therefore ooRP siege consequences are personal too, both good and bad. Bad, most likely.
But King of El Hill concept is proven activity magnet. I noticed some of our best players yesterday, even those that are playing only when something's mucho funny going on.

I'm not sure how the event began, I only arrived for the last 5 minutes, but by that time all I saw were people hugging GM18. Not sure if that was the intention or not.
On the other hand, you said burning someone's PoB leaves a bitter taste, indeed it kinda does, for the owner of the PoB. How about burning nobody's PoB? KotH events could be focused around admin-spawned custom model PoBs, like battleships. How about that?
Well, in that event in specific it was rather hard to figure out the sides. The event was hosted in 19 instead of 13 because I was very worried the GMG side would not have any allies against a wave of turtles. That turned out not to be the case.
Hopefuly the KoH planned for this weekend will be more interesting for you, especially for the players still wanting to duke out in the Omicrons AND have a chance to make money.

Actually, people tend to prefer caps over snubs for a reason. They're way more fun and rewarding to fly. They're easier to fly - cap pvp isnt that badly pain-in-engines focused on reaction times and instincts. And the strategy you've mentioned would most likely cause salt and tears, players tend to raise drama already for similar actions. GMG would really need at least a cruiser to make the fights just slightly funny for majority of the community. Lioe, thats the spirit the librhein war had, daily turtleloldread pews. Something that sigma based gmg-rhein can't provide.
Seems there is more activity with events when they hit the omicrons, which is so cool - events there go crazy, Looking forward to seeing what you have planned.
