The Wings of Liberty .... By The People, For The People
ID/IFF: Xenos
Tag: /-|
A separate sect of the Xeno Movement, the Wings of Liberty were founded by deserting pilots from the Navy's Battleship Rio Grande. Adhering to the movement's goal of forcing foreign shipping out, the Wings adopted this ideology, nullifying the original belief of the group being composed of 'racists and scumbags' to the traditionally built nationalist movement.
Originally composed in early 824 A.S. after a rather silent defiance of their chain of command, the pilots, led by their former wing commander Hayden Kramer, who would found the sect were brought in to the Xeno Movement via accepting, albeit wary, workers on Ouray. After several tests of dedication, including numerous patrols, sorties and successful raids, the Wings would grow to have more say in the Movement, gaining confidence on both sides and electing to bring the Xenos back from the downward trend they'd found themselves in.
Officially, or as official as a Xeno sect can be, the Wings work parallel with the those of the Alliance or any other Xeno sect. Unofficially, they work to see the original idea of the Movement, believing in a traditional sense of nationalism and the prosperity of the Liberty House above all else.
As a classically built Xeno movement, the Wings of Liberty have foregone the intent of removing the Liberty government by force, believing it to be the job of their allies in the Hellfire Legion. As such, their goals include:
- Attacking and destroying any foreign made import shipment
- Protecting Liberty based convoys and civilians
- Promoting Liberty exports and home-grown industry
- Attacking and demoralizing the Libertonian underworld
Field Commander (F-Cmdr)
The head of the Wings' operations in Liberty, the Field Commander oversees all ongoing operations and the entirety of the movement.
Lieutenants (Lt)
The right hands of the Commander, their Lieutenants uphold the word of the top down through the bottom. Each Lieutenant, to a max of three, are given special roles by the Commander, contributing to the movement.
Tarantula Hawk (T-Hwk)
A well versed member of the sect, a Tarantula Hawk's job in the Wings is to mentor their lower level counter parts while showing a high degree of duty and dedication.
Red Tail (R-Tail)
The Red Tails are the standard bearer for the Wings of Liberty, the common Xeno folk of which the movement comprises of. Most forces that the Xenos dish out accompanied by the Wings' logo are Red Tails, and while no one Tail is more praised than the other, each are valued for their loyalty to the cause.
The Flightless (--)
The Flightless are what are deemed the newest of recruits for the Wings of Liberty. They have yet to undergo the tense trauma of becoming a full fledged worker for the movement, and in time, though preferably also proving, they gain the necessary recognition to become Red Tails.

The Xeno Movement, and the Wings by extension, maintain eight solar stations to operate from, most, if not all, stemming from what were originally old Liberty mining platforms. From each of these, the Wings can base their operations, allowing them to aid their brothers and friends on a moment's notice, or enact pinpoint operations in the blink of an eye.
Ouray
The most famous of the Xenos' installations, Ouray is a main staging point for many of the Wings' operations. Enclosed within the Silverton Asteroid Field, long since mined out, the Xenos stage their flights from Ouray to disrupt traffic flowing in from the northern border with Kusari and any transports providing export of Libertonian goods. Ouray serves, as it always has, as the Xenos main base of operations.
Refugio
More of a small planetoid, the Xenos bastion on Refugio is secured from all sides by not only a defensible gunnery setup, but also the helpful guns of the Hellfire Legion, the Xenos one and only true ally. Housing the main compilation of the Xeno Movement's civilian and unarmed population, it serves as not only a bastion for the pilots of the Movement, but also as a production center where many of the stood-over citizens of Liberty can find employment in the throttled market of Liberty's foreign influenced corporate showcase. Food, equipment and maintenance are supplied here, allowing the Xenos a very well developed fallback point should Liberty's converted law enforcement decide to show their full colors once more.
Nome
'A hellhole within a hellhole', as described by Kramer, Nome is the last place any Xeno Movement pilot would ever find refuge comfortable. Located in the Denko cloud in Kepler, Nome is bathed in radiation from the outside, but serves as an acceptable stop on the route to Ames and Kusari.
Milford
Located in the heart of Liberty, Milford is the Xeno Movement's bastion located in Pennsylvania. A system out from Refugio, Milford serves as the staging point for any Wings aiming to operate in either Texas or California. With the war on both sides in both systems, it serves it's purpose effectively, allowing the pilots who base from it a welcome return.
The Barrow
An empty rock in an empty field in the ass end of Liberty, the Barrow is the Xeno Movement's route to ending corporate shipping from Rheinland. A crowded station, most pilots who aren't permanent maintain their desire to 'get on, get fixed and get out' as fast as possible, while those who are simply enjoy the quiet before the next patrol out to raid another ALG shipment or Republican convoy.
Beckley
The only true station in the Xenos' armament, the bastion on Beckley serves as the Movement's main launching point into both Texas and New Hampshire. With Junker activity high in both, the station fills it's role well, and allows for the safe harbour of any pilots who get back from their raids into the scrap fields.
Dryden
A cold outpost on the edge of a cold field, Dryden is a well placed fallback point for the Xenos on Ouray. A small outpost guarding the nearby anomaly into California, the Movement continues to use it as a staging point against the Royalist invaders in California and the Navy in Alberta.
Gonzalez
A station on the edge, the Xeno outpost in Cassini remains on the verge of collapse. At risk of being both unsupplied and discovered, Gonzalez remains a Movement operating point, allowing the Wings to stage patrols and flights in the heavily contested system. However, this does not happen often, as the massive presence of the Liberty Rogues keeps the system on lockdown, allowing few ships open passage before the enemy discovers them.
Point Pleasant, Pittsburgh
A very recent addition to the Movement's lineup of staging points, the outpost on Pittsburgh, coined 'Point Pleasant' by Kramer, allows the Wings an open spot for strike craft right in the heart of Liberty. The ability to strike out at the capital with such speed is beyond useful to the Movement, and the Wings take no shame in exploiting it.
Being a sect of the Xeno Movement, the Wings of Liberty have access to most of the usual arms and ships that any standard Xeno pilot would. In addition, the Wings, being a former squadron of the Liberty Navy, have limited access to the arms and ships of their former employment.
To the average Movement pilot, this list is as follows.
- Sirius Civilian Ships and Weapons
- Xeno Movement Weapons
- Hellfire Legion Ships and Weapons (Contact Required)
- Zoner Ships and Weapons (Contact Required)
- Liberty Ships and Weapons (Limited Access)

Looking really excellent, y'all. I genuinely can't express how happy I am that, immediately upon coming back to Discovery, such a well-written writeup for my fav underappreciated faction pops up. I don't know if y'all are using Discord but if so I'd be really happy to pop in and just be another friendly face.
My only complaint is the very brief mention of, and thus furtherance of the idea that, the Xenos being racists. Literally please stop because this is entirely unfounded in the lore and actually harms Xeno RP and gameplay. Other than that, all of this looks great and I'm really excited to see the Wings fly!

It's how XA took the direction of ultra-nationalism so xenos kind of evolved into that in disco. Perhaps not in vanilla but ye. Unsure how it harms Xeno RP/gameplay exactly, unless you simply believe racism has no place in roleplay. Ultra-nationalism evolves VERY easily into hatred of outside influences and, by extension, people that resemble those outside influences.
Good write-up tho gents, race you to officialdom. Look forward to cooperating in space. <3
Considering the controversy around the Xenos in general, the effort was made to make the faction as 'non-racist' as possible while still maintaining the same Xeno goals and playstyle. Despite this, it's unlikely that the effect of this will rub off, but it won't deny the possibility of trying to be regular, nationalistic jerks.
As for officialdom, it's on mate. Birds vs snakes.
