If it were up to me, these would be some changes that I might give a try. (or at the very least test out before summarily dismissing as a bad idea)

---Give cap ships torpedo slots: GB x1, DS x2, CR/BC x3, BS x4
(maybe reduce the number of gun slots in the ships by one for each torpedo)

---Turn all mortars turn into ammo using torpedoes, give them some (if only limited) tracking abilities, make them accelerate well, give them a decent speed , and make the ammo expensive enough for each so one thinks twice about filling their magazine with it. (possibly have battleship bases sell the ammo so you don't have to return where you bought the mortar to reload it)

GB's would be able to fire one LM with all their power
DS's would be able to fire one M with all their power (if you reduced the power requirement of the M to 1,400,000)
BC's would be able to fire one HM with most of their power
and BS's would be able to fire multiple rounds of any of them

It would leave it up to the player to determine if their ship can fire the weapon they buy.(no, bombers can't fire HM's)

It would: Give smaller cap ships more of a chance due to their ability to maneuver out of the firing ark of the forward firing torps, A chance to shoot down the torpedoes before they hit you (being a missile), A danger to self with point blank shots!, And give fighters/bombers the potential of less guns able to shoot at them.

And if you still want to buy an antimatter cannon that only uses power. . .buy a battle razor!

---Make a few more types of torps, maybe one shield damaging one or maybe a fast one designed as a GB killer.

---This next one I know may go over like a TON of bricks, but . . .SNAC: tone down damage to 32000/16000 (common sense...currently it uses less power than a LM? but deals almost the same damage as a HM?), and reduce the power requirement 24000 so a heavy bomber can fire twice before being out of power (or two at a time).

---Drop the power requirement of the Nova Torpedo to 16000, less power than a S.N.A.C., more damage, but ammo. also make it faster, as well as accelerate quicker....I hate getting blown up by my own torpedos.

---Change the base speed of some light figs to 90, giving some sort of advantage to driving a light fighter (besides just maneuverability)

---Increase the power regeneration of some of the heavy and very heavy fighters. . .what good is it to have 6 to 8 class 9 or 10 weapons if your power is gone in 2 seconds!

---Battleship missile turrets need to do more damage, to at least 8k/4k (so they actually do more damage than a cruiser missile turret)


then I have a few things I don't know about.

---Flak cannons. . .make them at least somewhat useful again. . .or dump them.

---A CODENAME that fires faster than 4.00 even if only 5.88

---I was thinking of making ADV. versions of GB, CR, and BS shields...200% SP plus 50% regeneration (like the ADV. transport shields) but I don't know how that would shift the balance even further toward the cap ships. (and then there's already cap armor 8 for those that can afford it)

---And if there needs to be another shield destroying weapon for fighters to compensate. . .make the DEFILER lootable on some wreck (but maybe no longer mounted on NPC ships)

Stop complaining about pvp on an RP server?

I'd agree with giving GBs torp slots, because that would give them a fairly awesome role of something alike a submarine, although it might just make GBs the uber-class capable of destroying anything and everything in groups of 2-3.

And also, the Supernova is a very real problem when giving caps torp slots. Novas are geaed towards bombers, so when you give capitals torpedo capability, they could just indefinately fire a SN, which is bad...

EDIT: Then again, the Public Beta for .85 is apparantly being released in a matter of days, so we should see what they've done with the types of weapons you mentioned above.

It was just MY opinion...im not beating down anything. Im just noting people start complaining too much about the pvp aspects of the game. sorry for allowing myself to express opinions.

Well one needs to consider PvP for balance. But overall people are looking for variety.

Sure we will salivate over the new changes, and take part in the Beta tests.

That wont stop people from saying 'what if'...



For my part, I would love to see GBs and other caps with torp slots - but torps need to be adjusted such they they are less effective against small ships - and used against the caps like they are supposed to be!

As for light fighters - not a speed increase - but greatly decrease the Cruise Engine activation time. This would allow the light fighter to be a better interceptor. Just a thought...

I went down in flames when I brought up the Supernova. Regardless, 4.85 is coming out very soon, so we shouldn't need to worry about a new balance.

A way a lone a last a loved a long the riverrun, past Eve and Adam's, from swerve of shore to bend of bay,
brings us by a commodius vicus of recirculation back to Howth Castle and Environs.
