If I was to be a Mercenary, which would deal both lawful and sometimes Unlawful contracts... nothing to big on either side - Would I be able to use possibly a Bounty Hunter's Guild Ship or their Weaponry? Or would the 'independent merc' thing prevent me from buying any of their surplus equipment?

Erm... aren't ships a bigger investment? I'd say that they'd be more hesitant about selling their ships than their weapons. And anyways, I'd strongly advise avoiding BHG gear for a merc that plays both ways. For a purely lawful merc, I guess the guns might be good, possibly the ship, though that depends on your standing with the guild, I guess.
