It took me over a month to find people willing to sell me the data and buying it off Admins inrp in-game for these awesome weapons, my ship is worth over 10 billion credits, sounds like a money sink to me....
as for balance, I have spoken with people about the weapons and its perfect the way it is...

There where several issues with scidata events- winners getting picked randomly, battleships doing the most of the damage but snubs coming in and looting them
2) admins/devs/whoeverimplementedthis still not willing to accept that its not a money sink and the money is infact still in the economy (i'll give you a thumbs up , if, after you sell the scidata and recieve the cash, you delete the ship, you didnt delete it did you ??, right thought so. The cash still remains in the economy.)
I will just keep the only really relevant part of an even bigger rant.
Yes, once I sold the SD, the money was deleted from the Game. I can't argue the point that it was sold for 5 million a unit, because that appears to be average price, nowadays (set by people who were greedy for money and helped along by people greedy enough to pay what was being asked, so they could get hold of the 'special weapons').
I sold just under 1800 SD for just under 9 billion credits. The money was sent, once transaction was completed, to 1 of a few Bank Ships I set up for this. At the end of a session, I then went and deleted all the money on the Ships, including the starting 25,000 credits.
So, in fact, these SDs were a money sink.
As for selling these guns for 100-500 million, how are the people going to feel, who have already paid, as far as I am concerned, a stupid amount of money so that they can be 'Top Dog' in Combat.
I have started doing this to give those people who don't get a chance to enter an Event, a chance to get some SD.

Okay denis, you have a point
heres my point-
where is my reward for painstakingly shooting a carrier npc as a battleship ? i have screenshots of participating in several events but getting no rewards, some junker csv that was just /restartnearevent, created 2 mins ago stole all my loot or was randomly selected as event winner.
This is an amazingly hypocritical favoritism for those who bought those guns paying 5 billions but a slap in the face for every single individual that participated in the npc shooting fiasco, not to mention that these events were random(*cough* *cough* gambling is banned for people <18 and its illegal in france to participate and also its not even allowed in my state ) and people where not alerted( *cough*) so they didnt even have a fair chance of getting something.
thanks for creating a totally fair commodity that everyone in disco could enjoy equally.
lets break down some maths
5 billions for 2 guns, 42 millions per route with a travel time of 25 mins. that translates to 119 routes * 25 minutes is = 2975 minutes = 49.583 hours, this is excluding the time taken for mining and annoying npcs. How can you even defend this with a straight face ?

for the love of god, money sink means cash getting deleted not transferred. Please look up the definition.
You were meant to earn sci data through scanning baxter objects which were meant to drop sci data as a way to earn it ingame, with specific science ships: I.E: Corvo + Bustard.
That was talked about publicly by staff quite a few times.

please sell the guns on conn or make scidata available through a admin pob, thanks.
So...this entire rant is about people giving other people obscene amounts of money for a powerful weapon? If you want a money sink then just change it so you can buy the weapons directly from the Admins (since you would need to send money from multiple ships for most weapons, which makes buying from a station impossible) for 1.5-2x the normal sci data cost of 5 million per unit. This way, it is possible to obtain the weapons without sci data, just more expensive than getting sci data from other people. That makes it a proper money sink.

I have partook of some of these Events and received nothing, other than dying a few times. So, I just shrug and move on. That is the way of life.
As for fair, you have 2 of these Guns, from what you say, but there are lots of people out there who don't have them. Nobody forced you to buy them. You decided to get them.
I don't have any of these 'special guns' and I will not pay 5 million credits per unit to get them. I see no point.
I am not defending them, but we all have a choice. Some of you have made the conscious decision to buy these Guns (by either buying SDs or by buying them from people who have 'bought' them, previously, and subsequently decided to sell them.
When SDs were originally sold, I believe the price was in the 2-3 million credits per unit range. Since then people have become greedy and the price has risen to, in some cases, 6 million credits per unit (there is at least 1 person actively selling them, on the Forums, for that price). In some way, you must accept some of the responsibility for the price rise, as in your 'need' to have the 'special weapons' you have obviously bought the SD for 5 million credits each.
Now talking about economics, supply and demand play a big part in pricing. If people refuse to pay 5 million credits for SD, then those who are trying to sell them, must reduce the price if they want to sell them. If there are people willing to pay the asking price, then the price will always remain high. The 'worth'of anything is dependent on what people are willing to pay. I wouldn't pay £10 for some of the paintings from the 'so called' Masters. There again, people are prepared to £30 million for them.
As for pay to win, really? Let me guess you have multiple Capital Ships with CAU VIIIs. There are plenty of people, flying Caps that don't have CAP VIII because they can't afford it.
So, realistically, I feel no sympathy for you (and this is not a personal dig at you) , but if you want something bad enough, you will be willing to work for it (In the same way that fairly new Players look at your CAP VIII Dread, with envy, whilst flying their Sunburst, and work hard so that they to, can have a CAP VIII Dread). Think how many hours they have to fly before they can eventually afford that 'prize Ship'.

You know, the people who cry about grinding money in Freelancer are people who are here for years and often just stare at the player list and wait for something to log for. Meanwhile you can just as well log a trader while waiting for something to log something else for. Worked well enough for me, and I play this game for about two years only. And no, I don't log that often and not that long. Doing a few trade runs per week is all it takes.

Here is why youre wrong
1) this is a combat space sim so the "such is life argument" is totally invalid itself.
2) i own 4 battleships with 2 cau8s which took me less time to buy when compared to these two kientics (4 battleships = 1.6 billion, + 2 cau8s = 3.5 billion in total).
3) you cant feel sympathy for casual players like us because logging 4 hours a week is already hard for us.
It takes you 50 hours of grinding just to buy 2 kinetics, and the problem doesnt stop there you have to actually hunt down people and pray to god they sell them to you.
The people i see here supporting this whole sd price justifications are those the ones who can log 20+hours a week, everyone wants a casual and skill curved game to play. I took me more than a year to buy all the battleships and from the 100 hours i traded i spent 50 hours just for the kinetics.
4) since we are comparing market value and time, a cau8 battleship costs less than <1.2 billion, a money which can be grinded in around 10 hours, which is doable in 2,3 weeks.
5) freelancer is a combat space sim not grinding simulator, even then grinding sims like destiny and warframe providr equal chances and real money sinks to keep inflations in check. theres supposed to be equal chance for everyone which youre cearly not providing, battleship prices used to be 800 million ish but they where brought down to 400 by the previous devs because they wanted to people to actually play the game how they like not neccesarily grind for it.
Also ofcourse denis, you're practically sitting on billions, when i asked you, you said 5billions is peanut change, its easy to judge us when buying a kinetic weapon is like changing a shoe for you. Maybe if you didnt have any money then youll know how hard it is for us.
6) i own a pair of kinetics and grinded for them because i dont like to loose, the fact that someone can randomly buy them and beat me i something ill never be able to digest nor accept. Its not because the weapon is special or has unique shiny pointy feeling, its just because if you own it you can win.
7) youre not helping gameplay by doing this, youre holding it back by miles, the absolute failure that is the JH generators parts is an example for this.
8) why do you compare paintings and guns ? The us army doesnt buy tanks because they look good and they can have a fancy tea party in it. The argument would be valid only for contrails and engines.
So tldr-this is a game not a real life, these guns cost more thsn all my battleships and equipment combined, these are not prizes theyre guns and they hurt you more than normal guns.
Edit:- i cant even take sombra seriously lolololol, she expects me to log 50 hours in less than a week, some people have RL.
Edit 2- few trade runs a week... by few you mean 120 runs, can you please..
