To the former, it was still an event with complications that might have turned out differently had such things not occurred and circumstances been made fair. There's been discussion about this before and at length, but the point I'm making is that if the team wants to redo this event, they should stand by their policy and redo the other.
To the latter, good.
Unlike the Council event, we found a happy compromise for the New London event, both win criteria were doable without preventing the other from being completed, so we had both criteria hit and people were happy (mostly).
The Council event, while I'm sure with a bit of fiddling you could try make up a draw condition, it would cause the event it be mostly meaningless (i.e both ships survived, back to square one), so we must re-do the event to put the thing to rest. I'm sure people will be upset if Council wins the re-do because "GRN won the first time!" as it is being argued by some. GRN winning will I am sure settle the dispute, but the fact that a Council win is going to make people upset is frankly disappointing in terms of the attitude. It happens sometimes in sport, you have to take it and move on.
