This is quite the sign of trust you're being given. I hope you don't squander it.
Go ahead with your plan. We'll be watching our defensive perimeters carefully. Should anything occur that is deemed harmful to our existence or operations, I'll pull the plug on any armistice the Mandate has in the region. With notice, of course.
I've got a proposal for you and the professorship. We've recently finished developing a set of new experimental weapons ranging from fighters and bombers to as far as war vessel batteries that are ready for field testing and service. The weapons are based on a variety of alien and experimental technologies, which will prove effective against Nomadic targets and human targets alike.
In the interests of further solidifying our bond, The Inner Phalanx is willing to provide the Professorship and Lane Hackers with access to and the means to utilize these new guns effectively. A technology trade, so to speak. We provide you with our latest and greatest weapons, and in exchange we'd ask for access to several vessels that have been produced by the Lane Hackers to bolster the Armed Mandate's ranks. Bombers, some fighters perhaps.
Of course, there is something of a catch about using our weaponry - our volatile diplomacy makes the open use of our technologies quite difficult, and their origin could be traced to us which may expose our relationship to the wrong people. It may also attract the wrong crowd as many may seek to obtain samples of our equipment. Due to that condition the same can be applied to the use of Lane Hacker technology, should such even be approved to begin with.
I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the matter.
I apologize for the delay, however internal deliberations and opinions from as many minds as possible were necessary considering the importance of your proposal.
Working together with the Auxesia on cutting edge technology research and exchange is something which we would really like to continue and expand upon, one of my colleagues have even stated that "we would be near unstoppable if we join forces".
However there are other more conservative minds which have pointed out that our association needs to be solidified into a formal alliance before we invest so much into this. We both know what the main obstacle is but rest assured that we have taken steps to ensuring this entity will be destroyed or greatly diminished in the near future. Then there would be nothing to stop us from joining forces and exploiting our special relationship to its fullest potential.
In the meantime I would urge that both sides start working together on Spyglass Mark 2 project. Please let me know if you have any suggestions or proposals about it.
For the time being I'll be shelving the diplomatic discussion until The Inner Phalanx is more readily available to discuss the potential, but I do agree that a proper union between The Covenant and The Lane Hackers would not only benefit both parties on a technological and scientific front, but strategic and espionage possibilities will benefit as well. There is much to deliberate in regards to current relationships, but rest assured that we're weighing our options carefully now that our position is more secure in the Sector.
On the topic of your Spyglass project: I have several possible suggestions and files which may be beneficial to its progress. I've even taken the liberty of running a major experiment, making use of our neighbor's 'next step' in the design and pushing it to its technological limits, so to speak. Internal and external design flaws were challenged and improved upon, are still being improved upon and have seen relevant field testing to document the potential. Having access to the inner workings of an Arbiter as my test-bed has and will most definitely come in handy, though as I had requested previously some information on the project is required before I can levy any assistance on the project's advancement. Namely, my request for the original design as cross-reference and review material has gone unanswered. I'd also like to know what progress the Lane Hackers have made before seeking our assistance, that way any suggestions or resources I divert to assisting here will be worthwhile and can be selectively chosen based on what is more valuable to the progression of the project.
Provided these details can be made available to myself and my engineers, I'd be more than happy to release what information and data I've collected from the experiment I've been running. It'll paint a clearer picture for me to better understand what I have to work with and where this project needs to go from here.
I've been instructed by my counterpart to make several inquiries in regards to some recent developments along the Bretonian and Gallic battlegrounds. As I'm sure you recall, our current stance with Bretonia is one of mistrust due to the lockout, however despite their decree I've withdrawn from blockading Dunedin and redirected my forces into the Leeds front, with every intent of aiding in the rescue of civilian non-combatants by applying pressure to the Gallic forces. The planet lay nearly surrounded by several of their atmospheric-capable orbital bombardment Destroyer-class vessels.
Based on their trajectory and the Royalist war modus operandi evolution over the past three years, I firmly believe they intend to destroy not only the city, but large portions of the planet itself by targeting fault lines with strategic bombardments launched from those destroyers. Their numbers are significant and the odds of preventing any kind of catastrophic damage without direct intervention from one of the major fleets involved in the war is near impossible, with even their involvement making chances of success slim. Thus we've begun reaching out to local parties in order to better coordinate the evacuation of refugees from the planet. I'm interested to know the Professorship's thoughts on the matter, and if the Lane Hackers are at all willing to provide aid to innocents trying to escape the nightmares of this conflict.
My counterpart is curious in procuring information on Jump gates. More specifically a means to properly disable one for good. Considering your expertise with Ageira-related technologies, Keeper Revenant is curious if you have any device or means of doing so in a quick surgical strike. A NEMP wouldn't suffice in this situation, or we would've considered them from our personal arsenal. If you have any information on the subject, she'd be interested in it.
Research and Development on Spyglass Mark 2 is proceeding, albeit slowly, once we have concrete results to show, I will definitely share them in this communication.
We are closely monitoring the situation in Leeds system. By using the nearby jump hole to Magellan we are able to assist in the evacuation of as many civilians as possible. However the question remains.. what will happen to them afterwards? One possible scenario is to redirect them to Planet Malta where they can find temporarily a new home and place to live and work. Since they are Bretonian citizens they are recognized by government in Malta so I reckon it will be easy for them to return to Bretonia once the war is over.
As for the request about the Jump Gates I am afraid but we cannot share such critical information. Considering their destructive potential, this knowledge could lead to devastating effects on habitable systems. Despite our unique and singleminded hatred for the organization called Ageira Technologies, this is one of the few things which we cannot turn or use against them. With this in mind, I would strongly recommend to avoid deploying NEMPs on Jump Gates as their destructive power combined with a badly maintained Gate, such as the ones in the front lines, could lead to destabilization of the timespace singularity and create a chain of cataclysmic events such as the one in Hudson which the Lane Hackers barely avoided it in time.
