miner is a good job, to see sometime, relaxing and dangerous sometime too,but if you pay a fee you can work freely 2 hours, the "pirates look on the traders" the money is here
generally the traders have ready some money ready for the pirates. and the pirates if they are lucky, they robb some money. pirate is a hard job, long and fastidious when there is no traders and risky(police, military, hunters etc etc)
generic miner is interesting, and generally the others let you mine, you mine slowly than them. it's your choice to mine the better for you! normally by example gold ore don't work fine with generic miner id if i remember or h3 too and premium
in these 3 jobs, to make money quickly, u can use a good freighter miner that you upgrade when the time came. by this way, you can test the differents ore, you can explore sirius etc , so miner is a good job, i mean to mine alone and you are payed by yourself, when you have money, you can mine for pleasure or to help the young traders, the young pirates you can annoy them for fun etc etc
the mining price have been lowered in sirius, for a 5000 you can ask a good price, the traders sometime, depend of ore, are ready to pay 15000000.
to mine at 1000 it's generous for nothing. it's not a good *remuneration* for the miner
PS in a day of honnest work, you can have a good freighter/transport mining ship, and a decent transport, not too bad
In my opinion, 50% value of cargo is okay, considering the current level of piracy. I fly the most dangerous routes, leading me to places like Bering, Omicron Delta, Omega-2, and Dublin, just HOPING to run into pirates. I still only get pirated about once every 20 routes. If I was pirated for 50% of my cargo value, that would mean losing 2.5% of my profit overall.
If pirate activity increased, and people started getting pirated all the time, I'd say 25% would be an appropriate amount to demand.
In my eyes, piracy serves to provide an incentive to have a defensive transport, hire an escort, or have diplomatic relations with the pirates you are likely to encounter. If the demands are too small, then you have nothing to lose by just flying a defenseless 5k train everywhere and shrugging off the cash you lose paying pirates.
Personally, I demand 15-30% of the target's cargo value when I pirate. I don't think pirates should ask for any less than 10% of the cargo value. And asking for 10% value should be considered being lenient because the target is of a neutral faction, while factions that are directly disliked by the pirate should pay more.
Note that I am NOT just complaining as a miner or pirate trying to make more cash. I make my money hauling. I only mine because 1: I like mining, 2: I want to keep mining alive, and 3: So other people can earn money.
And I only pirate because I want to help keep the balance.
It takes about 25-35 minutes for a hauler to make 50-70mil.
A miner spends about 2 minutes flying to the field, 5-8 minutes filling the hauler, and 2 minutes flying back to dock again, and people want to pay them only 5mil. The miner makes 30mil an hour IF they're lucky enough to actually get 6 transports in an hour, and the hauler makes 100-140mil an hour. If the miner doesn't have to dock, and has an absolute constant supply of customers (unlikely), they'll manage to make 60 million an hour for providing fillups to 12 people.
---
ou forget the haler does not make 50mill, he has to spend 5 to make that..ans spend the same amount of time with the miner to get the fill.. ..
If you have a Pob nearby, you get what ? .. 2500 to 5000 per unit.. when the sell points are 800 to 12000 .. . so if you charge 10 mill to fill that is about what it cost from a pob almost.. I guess if ou want to make the "good" moey by mining, yah should work off a POB.. .. I can make just as much with my rheinland mining ship loading a POB as I can doing a haul.. I think the idea is to try and create activity.. then the whole operation can support miners, haulers, and escorts as well as a pirate.. I am guessing nobody or very few have bought a Cap ship with money made from being a copper or military dude.. lol. .. Also I would like to say mining is better as a group activity.
Was lucky meeting reasonable traders when pirating. Usually we ask percentage of the end profit while still preserving opportunity for haulers to stay in plus. During the trade event of xeno relics being hauled to Lorraine, the profit was 17k per unit, making astonishing 85kk per 5k run. We robbed people for 30 million a time, leaving them with fast 55kk. Those fixed taxes of 2 million is just stupid, IMHO.
This guy asked in the Miner's discord if anyone would mine Aluminum for him. I quit what I was doing, and went to the field to mine for him, since he'd been waiting a while.
I started mining, and asked him if he'd be willing to pay 12mil for a fillup, as I pay 12-15m regularly, and when he refused, I offered 10m, and then offered to do it for a minimum of 8m, as I had quit what I was doing, hauling a load worth $72m, and switched characters to a miner, flew to the field, to fill him up, all so he could make money and not have to wait any longer for someone else to show up. I had no transports in the system, so I had nothing to gain by going to the system to mine; I did it JUST so he could make money. And the greedy bastard wasn't even willing to pay $8m for my trouble. I have billions. I don't charge for mining to make profit. I charge so that greedy haulers don't get serviced, and people who don't take their help for granted, get my help.
I also had a new player with me, mining alongside me, and I wanted the 50% split profit that I gave him to be enough for him to afford a Ragnar. I didn't want to just hand him the money, because I wanted him to get to feel like he earned his way up by his own accomplishments, without owing anyone anything. This would have been his first customer, and before this he was struggling to haul, with a load that didn't even fill his freighter, as he could not afford enough commodities.
So, this other guy, JC, jumped me into the Dyson Sphere, left me there with a load of Nomad Fighter Remains, and said he's charging me 30 million in order for me to be jumped back out, his reasoning being that I charge an "absurd" rate for ore. He's also now speaking to people in various factions that I'm interested in joining, in order to try to prevent me from being accepted.
Great job, Discovery community. Your constant OORP hate is causing you to stop your own factions from progressing, because you'll stop good, helpful, productive members from being accepted into your factions, all so you can satisfy your grudges that have nothing to do with the factions.
To JC, and others like him: Fools like you are killing this mod. You are the reason people stop playing every year. If you keep this up, you'll have nobody left to fly with. Every member is a treasure to be protected.
Well, it was fun while it lasted, but if I end up being kicked from the chats of these factions that I was going to join, all because of this guy, then I'm out of here, again. Sorry to leave you guys so early. I was really hoping to stick around and help a lot of factions to become active again, but I'm not going to waste my time fighting against this kind of crap. It's a game, and it's meant for fun. If people make it to the point where it is not fun to play, then there is no point in playing.

You know why i told you that, it has nothing to do with this whole "incident", i was being clever and polite regarding that whole stupid drama until what you said, i told you that you're not going to be welcome in those factions after you said that you were going to harass me in game by " killing me on sight", which btw i could even report right now. And you complain about oorp hate? Don't be so hypocrite and liar. And by the way i would've apologised and talked you more to solve that issue but your refuse to unblock me, too bad! But ok, keep crying and saying you're the victim.
