Took more posts than I would have anticipated. Stirling is dying in an event with no chance of survival regardless of the result, and Bretonia doesn't take out any enemies in the process of losing it, but I know the Devtonia crowd only sees what they want to see.
Zoners are on the up and up eh! Pygar got a ring and you still do what you have always done, fly big ships that have no use and power trade.
Fixed that for you.
The entire situation would be better if we were following a system instead of coming up with little scenarios at the last minute. I also don't understand the constant need to fix event outcomes. They say letting players determine things is bad, so only a bit is ok. Really, we all know why, its about maintaining personal control, not order.
As to Devtonia, people, its a Devtopia now because its server wide!
People are missing the point. At this point we should be taking any and every scenario and cannon development as an opportunity to encourage activity. The devs have too much control over social interaction, its become and obcession with throwing some us some bones to keep us chewing on something. But the meat is always going to them.
In both the Bret VS Coalition and Zoner expulsion from GC, both are opportunities to set up longer unfolding situations and allow for some measured conflic. That means creating outlets for players. Why not let the Zoners actually have an exception for once and let them fight? BTW this is the guy behind the Zoner Militia, which also was quite a paradox, as the ID was created by the devs, yet highly suppressed by all the zoners and non zoners alike, but I never understood the irrational fear players got around it. It was more like a trick to get people to fly a cannon fodder ID.
It did create some activity but was impossible go get off the ground. But if not oorply hated by the community, it would have been a good outlet to try some stuff, you know, fun! Dont hate me cuz I dont think all Zoners would roll over like complete wusses on every issue. Zoners are civilians with access to a lot of weaponry, Sirius is lucky they've been forced to play nice!
In 'Exeter', no offense, but a 1 hour war on a saturday where the main target is guaranteed lost is a total joke. But I wouldnt be involved anyways, so have fun, but if it were set up to be more than an hour on one day alone and allow any ID, and allow for either the saving or destruction of Stirling, that would actually get some things moving. Just creating activity spikes one saturday out of a month is not doing much for general activity. Limiting other faction involvement kills it, and limiting Zoners ability to do anything is again throwing away an activity generating outlet.
It would be nice if we could be brave and if factions want to have a war, have a little war, in real time, just try it and see what happens. But yes, then us terrible players might be able to get involved and cause an effect. No one will actually be hurt in case you all forgot!
Honestly they need to completely ditch the episodes and scripted development. Devs please stick to making stations and models and arranging star systems, and let the players form story based on the actions they and factions take with one another. Maybe its just my opinion, but the micro management of events is out dated, and not every player driven outcome will end the server, it will only end someone else's script of what they plan for players well in advance. This is also an open world, sandbox multiplayer rpg, so controlling history must be nice but its not necessary, and is to me the worst part of things here and is totally contradictory to how the game is played and unfolds naturally.
And that event proves they could be setting up strong solars all over the place for more real time battles and scenarios to unfold around. Set the Stirling and its battlegroup up to be attacked, put them near the planet or near jumpholes, thats all is needed. Apply same rules and characteristics of POB's. Let anyone get involved, many will come out, and get working on stuff they might need for battle (grinding). Then if someone wanted to start a war, they only have to show up, start an attack, post RP. If the devs are so low on help to get things done, they should take in some assistants or something, train some people to help do the leg work of moving around NPC assets and setting them up as hittable solars.
And imagine if we let Freelancers show up for situations in Freelancer! Dont forget the freelancer part of Discovery folks! Oh that's right, but the chaos!?

This will be fun to watch. Bretonia wanted GC to be closer to the Corsair Empire, to have a base closer to launch strikes against them. Look how close Pygar is. The Zoners will build it up and someone else will want that, too!!
Now, as a lifelong Zoner, it's not for everyone. Many on this server are about pew pew and not RP. I have been here for about a dozen years and thrived on RP. I hated what Bretonia did. It wasn't just the Zoners but the Aland as well. For them, it was survival. Just remember what happened when Rome got too big!!
And I wouldn't label all Zoners as poor who ran from the houses. They chose to forge a life away from house space. Lore is that they are to negotiate everything. Well, that only works if the other side is willing to and quite often, it isn't. Fight? If they have to and they should be able to. That said, I didn't create Med Force Enterprises to go to war with. Yes, Doc has done well but he works his ass off to get there. Fighting defeats the purpose of everything I have ever built.
I would like to see Zoners more involved by developers though. If played right, they can either be a valued help or a major thorn in people's side.

See?! i'm not the only one after all .. i always knew that the problem is that most don't say it, they prefer the silence .. at least public ... or they just leave a write a goodbye post saying all!
I just wanted a chance .. since the beggining of all this .. a fighting chance that could leave to something, but the devs don't want that, as already was said here! so ... what's the point playing?! right?! you are also right ... i also said the same, events with the outcome already decided no matter what happens in the game, is just pew pew!

doc you are one of the very few that go along of what this mod was "built" .. RP ... i stil remember several years ago the comms channel fulll of post and now ... so few and many continue for weeks!
already has said that the devs just want the zoners to serve as punch bags or bend overs, so don't expect that really care about the "zonnies"!
