Rheinland: Well looks like there will be something imperial or something, that can cause some kind of civil war! Well that is bad but ok! In my opinion Rheinland should be taking care of the problem on Planet Nuremberg, and take advantage of the concentration of “Reds” on Omega 49, to try expel then from their main territory, mainly taking care of Darmstad Depot on Stuttgart and trying to contain the activities in Dresden!
Bretonia: War on Enclave continues, war with Reds continue, war with Corsair continues, and internal problems with Gaians and Mollys
And this is all why I drive the issue of adopting an RP/faction battle system, both to add some transparency to developments and allow for commensurate player driven outcomes.
I get the feeling Rheinland will just be made to switch everything around to Imperial just for something to make it seem like stuff is going on. Instant change with infocards to back it up, and a big RP effort that I can't tell is actually fairly happening or is just a conspiracy of interested powerhouse parties.
To me, you shouldnt be able to overthrow a house government without a battle. If you win, it works. If you lose, its civil war. Whatever that battle materializes as, I see plenty of ways, as long as its decided in advance, both sides have fair chances to win against the other (like a siege of a government command base). This may be an RP server but sometimes too much is decided via rp alone, or explained away with an infocard. Any change is always a perfect chance to generate activity, and let players go to work at goals for their side. That also lets everyone have a chance to get involved. That means people make indies, and thats where future faction members come from.
So, again, this is why people should voice their support of any pre agreed to system that prevents unfair influence, and even devs from just deciding stuff, and makes them follow the server events and activity. And, it would make it so to get the changes desired for expansions or changes in governments, rp would organize, but things would need to be triggered and contested, in the arena, the actual game. Contrary to popular preference, RP is not always equal to pvp. Do we only play here to RP? Or also to use the game world for what it is. Else its just Dungeons and Dragons online, ignoring the common medium we can use to go beyond imagination, and ignoring the game part. But it doesnt always have to be combat pvp, as to me, supply events are just as important, and supplying can exert change, so that is pvp too. You still take risks, and still sometimes wind up fighting.
As to the Enclave, if the same system were implimented, they'd get wiped out finally, or reduced to hiding in an asteroid base ot two. Or, if not because they can actually put up a fight, I'd say good job. It would be cool to see. Instead on that end nothing will change because its frozen and they are protected. Thats the type of unfair treatment a system would prevent. You shouldnt have to submit requests to a team you know are supportive of personally or literally play for the faction you are acting against. And if thats not the case entirely, how can we know without more transparency?

Hm...the last time I voiced my opinion about current events, namely, when Bretonia invaded Gran Canaria, I was told I should cool off and take some time away from the server..
I'll just play the game and deal with it.
Well, this is an interesting topic. I yust want to say that in my opinion we should all (devs & players) be carefull with trying to guide too much of what is happening ingame.
That's, again imo, what went wrong about ten years ago with the result of a fast declining player base on Disco. Too much rules, regulations and guiding into certain directions with on top the complete bummer of introducing a forced storyline and a system nobody was waiting for; Galia. Even if it was a beautifully created system, i have to admit.
Ten years ago you could hardly get on the server, if my memory is correct the devs even tried to expand server capacity to more then 125 players. Playerbase was strong and a lot was going on.
But then their was a turning point when a very strong Corsair faction trying to controll all of the Omicrons leading to a big war with Zoners. It got seriously out of hand, i have to admit, to maybe an unacceptable level, not only ingame but also on forums. But i am in favor of factions, official, non official and independents making their own storylines. If things get out of hand now and then, so be it. At least there is a lot of action and exitement going on then.
Reaction of devs and some players on this things getting out of hand things ten years ago was not too good i think. Thats when everything got overregulated and players leaving. With on top the forced Galia expansion. A part of Disco died then imo, really too bad.
So what i want to say is, stop trying to controll everything, let some things develop the way they go. But again, this is yust what i think. Have fun out there!
