THP used to turn a coin jumping bustards back and forth when batteries were introduced. I believe that's about as good as it should get. Transports shouldn't jump, they're there to be pirated

But thats what the JD4 was for. Why even bother try to jump freighters I dunno. Sounds like they nerfed it to appease whiners but left it there to avoid the refunds.
This thread is how I learned why no one ever wanted to go do stuff with my jd4 bustard, which is useless! The JD4 takes forever to charge, its basically a more expensive, longer charging useless JD3.
All because some people were too afraid to go attack convoys while they assembled or unloaded. I waited with many jump convoys, they sat vulnerable every time. When a dozen ships showed up for a convoy, it seemed pretty good for the server to me. I always expected to be attacked but no one ever did. The answer was typical of this place. Made no sense. It was just to punish the JC for being super popular. As a mostly lane pirate, I support letting jump convoys return. Most of those times those players were only online to get in on the jump, so it was only in your heads its causing problems. When was the last dozen ship convoy that used the trade lanes?

And somehow you're not seeing how these two things are related. Even a dozen Bumblebees would have over 40 turrets in every direction, and that's about as defenseless as sub-5ks get.
I'd call JD4 military-grade jumpdrive useful for moving fleets within or outside ZOI for a better reaction while theoretical JD5 could be made for jumptraders.

Yeah but that was also my point, that people can still gather by the dozen anyways and make life just as hard for the lone pirate or a much smaller group, be it on the move or sitting around in one system. I always had thought that most jump convoys took long enough and were still exposed enough to attack.

Yeah thats not a bad idea actually. Maybe it just needs a long charge time, and since we don't need to tractor cargo anymore people wouldn't need to go to the map edge to avoid npc's. Then all it takes is some brazen pilots to go spy on a gathering and try to raid them before jumping.
