I loved Final Fantasy 8. It was amazing.
I actually need to start playing FF7 and maybe beat it.. It's the one FF that doesn't catch my interest.. But I want to grab FF: Crisis Core for PSP because it looks awesome, so I guess I should play 7.
Yeah, I picked up FFXII. Aweaome game. Turns out they are making a continuation for it on the DS. Dosen't look as good graphics wise but is supposed to be just as good or better in gameplay.
I have played a lot of FFs.
For example, my list.
FF - Have not beaten it, but played it. Yes, the original AND the GBA version.
FFII - Have played it, have not beaten it. Both the original NES version and GBA version.
FFIII - Have played it, have NOT beaten it. Have played the DS version as well as the original NES version. I had found a translated version. Hard to find.
FFIV - Have played it, not beaten it. Have layed the SNES, PSX, and gba versions.
FFV - Have played it, have not beaten. Was "this" close to beating it, had to go back to Blockbuster, I rented it. Have played the SNES, PS1, AND gba version.
FFVI - Have played it, wasn't that great to me. Played the SNES version.
FFVII - Have played it. LOVE it. Beaten it numerous times. Have played PS1 AND the rare PC version. (PC version is only rare because of the mass amounts of glitches.)
FFVIII - Played it. Not THAT great. Did not beat it.
FFIX - Played it, beat it. Awesome game.
FFX - Played it, got to bahamut doungen and stopped playing. Bored me, didn't like it alot.
FFX-2 - Played it, beat it, not too great but good game when you're bored.
FFXI - Have not played it. Heard it stinks and don't wanna pay monthly.
FFXII - Have played it, almost beat it, have strategy guide.
FFXII (DS version) - Not out yet, looks awesome. Going to buy it after I beat the PS2 version.
FFXIII (Not out yet) - Saw commercial for it somewhere on the internet on a gaming website. Looks freakin' awesome. Must get it.
So as you see, I played quite a lot of them. Please note that the list above is the Japanese versions. So when I say FFII, I don't mean the one in America that is about the Dark Knight, I mean the Japanese version about some war where the first fight you HAVE TO lose.
FF7 and FF8 were released on PC as well, I have both in collection (I don't like FF series, it's just there for dust, thank you very much). FFXI is also available on PC, but it's MMORPG.
played everyone and completed pretty much everyone other than ff3 don't have a DS and 3 over here is 6 (weird thing happened with em all)
as for creator dying FF has had about 3 or 4 diffrent creators for instance 10 and 12 wasn't created by the same team x-2 doesnt even deserve to be mentioned in the same category because it was a diffrent team completely that done that one and imho it was a pile of ****.
really FF kinda went down hill since the psx version's
as for ff7 its the best of them all don't let the graphics and such put you off its frikkin awsome. story was god damn twisty turny, and the gameplay and sheer content of the game utterly whipped pretty much all of the other FF's (bar ff6 and 5) 6 because of the sheer ammount of characters and stuff you can do. and 5 because well it was the best job system in any game ive ever played or seen so much to it. was way ahead of its time can still remember trying to play it when i was about 8 tearing me hair out because it was that hard haha.
Yes, I've pretty much played through them all, too.. Except 11. I own the first one for NES, and played 1/2 on an NES emulator. Translated versions.
6 will always be my favourite, though.
But Vaxxor, on your list you forgot one of the best FF games of all times.. Tactics! Tactics is bloody amazing and I'm getting a PSP for that, too.
FF1 was supposed to be "Final", thus the name, because the company was going under and none of their other games were a success. So they made this, and it actually revived the company.
Bit of a grave dig but had to comment I wasted probably a year playing FF7 and I resisted finishing it until I had every single item etc even then I didn't want to fight the final battle was a strange thing were I didn't want to finish it.
The closest game I've ever played to it was Chrono Trigger on the Snes apart from the obviously more cartoony snes graphics it was another squaresoft game with a similar plot that sucked you in. It was actually very similar even in the battle system.
Reason I really replied to this is I only discovered theres a ff7 prequel Crisis Core on the PSP and I'm going to go out and buy one just for that reason I never had any interest in the PSP until I found that out by fluke yesterday.
I know it won't be anything the same but what can I say I just have to try it I'l prob pick a few more games up with it as well.
Oh dear, Crisis Core.. Play it, that's really all I can say. The story and game play are quite enthralling for a PSP title, and the in-game cut scenes can be breath taking.
I've been sitting in front of the final battle for the better part of a month, I just can't seem to go through the door though.

Aaargh, I love the Final Fantasys! I first got VIII, and like it alot. Ater that I borrowed Final antasy VII and though it was about a million times better. I've rented V and VI (I think it was them, I forget, it was a double set) and got past the first few areas beore giving in, I mean those Black Knight people... damn!
I got IX off eBay and liked it just as much as XII. The plot lines on XII and IX are great! I got X a couple of months back, and I'm hoping to get XII at the end of the month or my Bday:)
