Hello there, since I am still getting used to the whole "roleplay" experience and the extent of all there is to know about this incredible server I wanted to ask some questions. I hope it's not too much of a bother.
1. What faction / ID should I choose if I want to explore the universe in a peaceful way? I'd probably choose Freelancer or Zoners? I just want to see the systems and fly through without getting blasted by everyone ^^
2. I recently started a new character and wanted to play as a tough borderworlds bountyhunter. I am now the proud owner of an AP-239 Bottlenose gunship and equipped it with several weapons. Now upon test firing I got a message, that my energy-output (or something, I don't quite remember it) is too low. How can I change that? Do I need another engine or are the turrets too much for this cheap(est of) gunship(s)?
3. Also I found the thought quite intriguing of playing as a ruthless slave trader. How can I achieve that? Since I read that these are illegal commodities and the rulebook for the different factions is huge
1. Freelancer is your best bet.
2. Don't equip everything at once. Remember that equipment is split into different tech cells each assigned to another ID. Use this for easier access and understanding.
3. The best way to learn those many laws is by playing the game at your own pace. You'll see that while the wording is different, House laws are generally all the same on the outside. But I digress. If you want to run as a slave trader, I suggest doing so either as a freelancer smuggler, using the pirate train or L'Ane, or as a Junker. Both offer good roleplay adventures.
If you want House-centered slave trading, there's GC for Kusari and Rogues for Liberty. Both factions are somewhat active too, so that's a bonus.
hello there! if you are looking for a peaceful explorer, a freelancer ID/IFF is probably your best bet. although, try not to run into any Nomads or ruffle too many feathers with factions... (unless you are looking for trouble hehe)
and for the third, i would say explore which factions you find the most interesting! some of the ones that deal slaves are Junkers, Liberty Rogues, Outcasts, and GC, although freelancers and some others deal too. Slaves usually fetch a good price at Planet Malta
Hi
1 - Zoner id don't make you immune to attacks, just keep you in mind, nad many players in certain factions don't like to see zonies around that main faction system.
2- you probably, most likely, have something on your gunship that is not 100% compatible with your ship and id. to avoid those complications i advise you to use equip of your faction id or civilian.
3 - long time ago there there was even the slaver id, now most are junkers or simply freelancers that want to take something value back to Malta after they unload a cargo of cardi. since you can buy then cheap and sell it for a very good price, but the risks are very high so be carefull.

If you come in something smaller than a gunboat, especially with an indie ID, you'll probably get RP from nomads. Zoner and Freelancer are your best options. Freighters are pretty non-combatant. Don't go into the nomad home systems, though, that's a paddlin'.

I will do my best to help ya fix your tech issue and join some expeditions around
Wow, thanks for the warm welcome! I am so hyped about this project, I am reading articles in the wiki every day. I just can't play atm, because I'm working away from home. So there is that, but I hope to meet y'all in space soon enough!
Concerning my 2nd question, I don't know the exact weapons (as mentioned above) I bought, but they are all from Birmingham Station - where I bought the ship. So there really shouldn't be any conflict concerning faction- and weapon-ID.
I am sure I'll figure it out once I can spare the time to play.
