I figured I'd check out Discovery again. The last time I checked it out was around when it got an award on ModDB, and that was just to fly around and kind of check out what got added. I got it successfully installed and set up, but the UI issues make it unplayable.
Either it's in windowed mode with everything scaled correctly (although the main menu buttons are offset from where they actually get highlighted) though the mouse gets all screwed up, or it's in fullscreen and the font is gigantic and nothing fits correctly anywhere. I tried to search for assistance on the issue but found the vast majority of help and tutorials were broken links.
What info I did find related to HudShift.ini, but that doesn't have an option for 32:9 and doesn't handle the font issue.
I'd love to have this in a windowed mode that actually works or in full-screen with the UI actually playable.
I suspect the issue is that the full-screen resolution isn't actually my correct resolution, because when game launch properly in fullscreen the rest of my desktop doesn't resize and move around windows, but it does do that with Freelancer. That's possibly why windowed mode scales things correctly.
Does anyone who has messed with this stuff know a good solution for 32:9 or a way to contain the mouse cursor without resetting it to the center for windowed mode?

2nd) Edit fonts.ini in DATA\FONTS to fix your issue with text scaling
Thank for the suggestion.
Unfortunately, that just causes the game to render as 800x600 on my 5120x1440 monitor and looks like the linked image. I only figured out it was 800x600 because that's what the screencap resolution is.
I've tried the setting you mentioned, directly modifying the PerfOptions.ini and setting it to read-only, and giving it launch parameters with the appropriate resolution. None have worked.
I do have the same issue. The launcher is acting bonkers tbh. When I use the windowed mode, it totally ignores my resolution input and instead forces 5120x3840 or when not using windowed mode it goes back to 800x600. I have been toiling for hours on that, trying all the tricks in the book and the closest I have come to make it work is by forcing the resolution in the Perf file and using the exe directly. It gives the right resolution but the menu is invisible.
Not sure there is any fixes, but if there is any I have not yet discovered please let me know.
So, I just got a 49" monitor that is just way to big for this game, so the way that I found to play was to just play it in windowed mode. I messed with the res settings and to see which ones looked good and which ones did not work and just did that. Sadly even though they have done a ton of work for this game, ultra wide screens are not supported sadly.
XUW Screens are kinda not supported, i mean, at 21:9 ratios it start to struggle, but at 32:9 ratios well, it just don't work at all, sadly isn't a game for your monitor xD
It does work flawlessly with Freelancer HD and Crossfire 2.0 in 32:9 resolution (5120 x 1440). That's why I was entertaining the hope of having it work on Discovery as well.
That being said, I can understand that this specific mod pack doesn't handle Super Ultrawide screens (32:9) as they are not the standard and were even less so for FL. I just had a major craving for a persistent Freelancer server experience. I'll move on.
