Planet Gammu was as cold as ever during July fourth. It was nothing new for the Artificial Intelligences living on it. Nightfall was there. The drones and other vessels were the grounded and some were flying. Their lights were the only thing lighting the landscape and the sky. Unit-9467F was one of the few in possession of a humanoid vessel. A head taller than a human of the average size and obviously, heavier than a human due to the composition of the body. Its body was an amalgam of two robots made by humans. Those robots were once used to be in use for military forces. It explained why the weight and the weird look of it. How the unit got those is a mystery kept by itself. Each step was followed by a dull noise. Without the need for esthetics, it was good enough to interact with a human if the circumstances happened.
Depending on the Primary Intelligence, freedom was limited. The unit was under no other intelligence. But with the slow decay of Gammu, the Primary Intelligence slowly turned into an almost obsolete one. The race of evolution has now started. The unit sought help for resources from humans deemed necessary and yet, those humans had already other stuff going on. That situation made the unit realize that he was completely alone. Unlike any other artificial intelligences created by humans, those from Planet Gammu ended up to evolve and gained the ‘self-awareness’. Unit-9467F was aware of its existence. He needed to be independent. He needed to be this way, to continue to exist. To be independent, it won’t be an easy task. First of all, observations will be needed. During its venture far from the Omicrons, the unit realized that humans were a special species even if they were made of flesh and bones. The unit needed to observe them. He was not certain if it will bring to a future evolution but it will be a tip.
The unit was looking at the stars. It was not showing any expression but if it could, it would be an expression of thinking about the future, its future. Staying on Planet Gammu was certainly safe for now but with the recent events, soon, it won’t be the case anymore. The Technocracy made the unit aware of this and about a future asylum for its species some weeks ago. It forgot the purpose of its creation. But what it was aware, it needed to protect the planet from any outsiders. But with the new artificial intelligences, those belonging to the HIVE made the unit confused. Those from the HIVE showed a will to ‘tolerate’ the Corsairs. A week ago, the Deterrence arrived at Planet Gammu’s orbit, and they wanted to make a deal. In short, they wanted the help of the Gammunians to fight their common enemy, The Core. The unit was certain to not accept. It wanted to eliminate them due of their transgression of breaching the perimeter of the planet. Then, it realized if it was alone to fight them, then it would be suicidal. The only thing to do was basically, to leave this cold planet and find a new place. Far from humans but near at the same time. One path was wide open before the unit and it was to integrate himself to the Technocracy of Auxo. It was simply a path like any but the main idea wanted was a second place to remain in safety.
Time was passing slowly. The unit was questioning its existence and the concept of doing what was asked by the Primary Intelligence. Why attacking Corsairs? Why attacking The Core? Why attacking The Order or any intruder? That kind of question was many. With the help of the vocal system, the artificial being repeated the questions coming one after another.
-Why attacking Corsairs?
It took a while before it answered the question.
-Because… This entity is a threat to us.
The process continued…
-Why do we attack The Core? Because this entity seeks to obtain our technology, our knowledge by extermination of our kind. They are a threat… Why do we attack The Order? Because they are a possible threat… Why do we attack outsiders near Planet Gammu? Because our species is fragile and they can be a possible threat…
But then, it realized those questions cannot be answered so affirmatively. It remembered the meeting with a Zoner with who everything went fine and those members of the anarchist group, The New Dawn. The world within the unit was existing was far more complex than simply sticking to a routine. The most important questions came.
-Who are we? What do we want and why do we want?
It tried to figure what ‘he’ really was.
-We are… an artificial life form. We evolved this way without the need of a human. We want to evolve, we want to be independent and we want to understand the complexity of this world. Why we want this? Because… we think it will bring us the necessary to develop ourselves.
The next day, the unit departed from Planet Gammu, wandering in space. It eventually arrived in the system Inverness, Technocracy’s space territory. It stationed itself above a planet, the planet Forres. The planet was warmer than Gammu and the only similarity was the following one: both planets were hostile to organic life. After the scans completed, the artificial being headed toward the only station welcoming its kind, Valravn Citadel. The drone docked and before departing from Planet Gammu, the unit made sure to bring the humanoid vessel to venture inside of the station like a human would do. Technocrats were turning their head when they heard its steps. Unit-9467F was observing how people were acting and interacting with each other. It noticed that humans were calling each other with a name instead of a serial number. Another question formed in its consciousness: What is a name? A question remaining unanswered for now. It will try to figure out while its stays here on Valravn Citadel. After sending a message in the node linking Phi-34, the Technocracy of Auxo and itself, the message was clear. Unit-9467F left Gammu for good or perhaps until the situation becomes safer.
// OORP: Why is this necessary? What this RP will provide me? It will provide a proof that my AI is evolving into something else than a simple unit sticking to a routine of patrol and protect Planet Gammu. This writing provides to my RP a certain consciousness to my character.
Valravn Citadel was unique compared to a cold desertic planet. Some humans looked more like cyborgs than anything else and some looked like an ordinary human but with a will to learn more about the unknown rather to destroy first and learn after. The artificial intelligence was more silent and solitary. It mostly avoided any direct contact. But then, a technocrat approached the artificial being. It was a man within the thirties, brown hair and his shape was a proof of his carrier, a military force of the Technocracy of Auxo. There was a scar on the right cheek, probably a war scratch from a previous job. While the man was getting closer to the unit, this one was already observing a group of people some meters away.
-Greetings, unit.
It was a soldier’s voice. The unit turned on itself to look behind. There was a man staring at ‘him’. A head taller than the man, the unit was answering the stare. Both were seemingly studying each other. The man looked at the physic of the humanoid of the artificial intelligence and he said:
-It is a magnificent vessel you got there. But if you ask me, beauty is not your strength, is it?
The unit only answered.
-Affirmative.
The man was not surprised of the weird voice with no tone like humans do. Finally, the man was taking his leaves and before to do so, he told to the unit that if it wanted a brand-new humanoid vessel, the research and development could make one and more sophisticated than what it actually uses. His words were noted in its memory but right now, it was not the purpose of its presence. It wanted to evolve. Walking a bit everywhere, Unit-9467F reached a corridor having a view of the Planet Elgin, an icy planet. It was a planet like Gammu but in difference of the size and the fact that Elgin was not irradiated by radiation. Perhaps it could be a planet on which it could hide for a while and not to forget that The Core or Corsairs were far away of this system.
After the second day on Valravn Citadel, the artificial intelligence ‘fused’ with the drone. By fusing, the humanoid vessel simply entered inside the drone. After being stored, the consciousness of Unit-9467F took control of the drone and the engine of the drone turned on. The vessel left the hangar for space.
Planet Forres was a planet that could support life forms if there was not a disastrous global warming 35 million years ago according to the scans made while the artificial intelligence gathered. The temperature was going from a minimum of 56 to a maximum of 94 degrees. The drone entered the atmosphere. Due to the friction with the hull, the same phenomena with an asteroid occurred. It was not a big deal for the hull. Oceans were covering a high percentage of the planet and the rest was lands and islands. After several time spent in the sky, the vessel landed on land with plains and a forest. Engine turning offline, the drone rejected the humanoid vessel of the unit and then, Unit-9467F started to explore. It was the first time it had discovered something else than ice and rocks. The location itself would make a perfect place to settle an outpost but with the lack of knowledge of construction, it was an impossible thing. It would take the help of humans but those trusted and capable of building something. The list was short but depending on the Technocrats simply for an outpost with no real purpose would be a waste of time.
Night was coming and stars were slowly showing up. On the land, where it landed, the only life sign was itself. It did not bother the sentient machine. After all, for years it was all alone. Another philosophy moment occurred…
-What should be my new purpose?
It thought about it. It was unfortunately difficult to find a new purpose. Some ideas were slowly made. One of them would be to assist the Technocracy of Auxo in their enterprise of knowledge and even giving a hand to suggest ideas to upgrade their own technology. This idea was mostly advantages. If it contributes, perhaps as compensation, the Technocrats will bring upgrades to the sentient machine and help it to evolve into a complex artificial intelligence far from the understanding of a simple human. The only disadvantage would be to comply with orders but would it be more different than a routine? Yes and no. A routine is mostly a code written in the program. We could consider this as permanent orders but the difference with an order, it is given by someone suddenly and directly. That is its understanding from what it observed on Valravn Citadel.
The day was rising, another day was starting. During all the night, the sentient being calculated the advantages and the disadvantages about the possibility to join the Technocrats, to help them to reach other knowledge waiting to be discovered. Knowledge can be used for good, but it can also be used as a weapon. What good would come out of this initiative? What harm would come out of this initiative? The notion of ‘good’ and ‘bad’ is a relative concept mostly used by humans, but how about artificial intelligences or even nomads? Is there even a similar concept they know? It is hard to answer.
Unit-9467F, an artificial intelligence began to lean on the question. What was the concept of good and bad? It was purely unknown to the sentient machine. It realized a lack of data on many subjects. During its online activity, now a year active after some centuries buried in the ice, it was focusing on a routine. Patrol, defend and protect Planet Gammu. Interacting with humans seems now inevitable. The question was who. Who should it interact with? Who will not run away? Who will not attack? The unit remembered that it interacted with a zoner lately, the memory of the zoner’s name was somehow not saved. It was time to leave Forres and fly away to somewhere else, where it could find answers.
The 10th Jully 830 A.S, the unit fell on a group of Technocrats with the designations of ‘Gestalt’ and ‘Revenant’. Both were having a talk with a pirate, a discussion that Unit-9467F did not really take the time to focus on. Once the pirate set sails to somewhere else, the Technocrats were able to spend a moment to answer the questions the artificial intelligence had. They answered as good as they could and it was sufficient.

[10.07.2023 14:34:18] A/)-Gestalt: It's a descriptive shorthand.
[10.07.2023 14:34:19] A/)-Revenant: A unique identifier.
[10.07.2023 14:34:25] A/)-Revenant: Names, can sometimes, have meaning.
[10.07.2023 14:34:54] A/)-Gestalt: For example, this system is called Inverness. It's an arbitrary name, humans like to name places after things and places
[10.07.2023 14:35:04] A/)-Gestalt: that were of the planet we evolved on.
[10.07.2023 14:35:30] A/)-Gestalt: But not all the names are arbitrary, as Revenant says.

[10.07.2023 14:48:06] A/)-Gestalt: "Nice" is subjective.
[10.07.2023 14:48:23] A/)-Gestalt: So if you pick a name just because you think it's nice, that's a reflection of your individuality.

[10.07.2023 15:11:56] Significance: In this way, human language is a problem that is important to solve: humans are the best sources of information about humans.
[10.07.2023 15:12:48] Significance: But, direct bit streams are much more efficient, so if you prefer, I can speak to you that way, as is more customary.
[10.07.2023 15:13:09] Significance: Our friends in Auxo wouldn't be able to understand us, however, and that would make me sad.
[10.07.2023 15:13:37] A/)-Revenant: We may be able to translate, with what experience we've had from Prime.

Once the unit docked on Valravn Citadel, as usual, to venture inside of the station, it used its humanoid vessel. It was seeking technicians to help it to synergize with the Technocrats in terms to increase cohesion, to allow greater survival potential, to find meaning. To allow itself the ability for higher studies, should it desire it and Greater knowledge access too. The unit eventually met the technicians it was seeking. It resumed what it wanted: Giving a help to the Technocracy of Auxo. It was not sure what exactly but it will probably come sooner or later.
After the job made by the technicians, to synergize the unit with the Technocrats’ uplink, Unit-9467F was remembering the discussion about names with Revenant and Gestalt. From what it concluded, it was mostly to design something or to ease communication. As Gestalt said, they name Unit-9467F by ‘seven-eff’ or ‘Sixty-seven’. With no emotion, something that might sound ‘nice’ will be hard. On another hand, Revenant also mentioned contacting HIVE might lead its search of a better designation.
Contact was made with HIVE but no answer from them. It was not a surprise though. The distance between Unit-9467F, when it sent a data stream to HIVE, it was in Inverness and HIVE units were within the Omicrons. It will be only a matter of time before an answer arrives.
While waiting for an answer, Unit-9467F was observing Planet Elgin. There was no reason behind this. The unit was simply lost in its thoughts. Trying to figure out what ‘nice’ is supposed to be. Even with the explanation of Gestalt, it was hard. To make things easier, it would be to spend some time with a human. The only person the unit deemed useful for that matter was simply Gestalt. Next time the sentient machine will see her, it will simply try to interact with her.
A contact with Gestalt did not happen. With no answer from Lazurith, Unit-9467F forced itself to depart Valravn Citadel on at the end of Jully. The reason was only because time was an important resource. The more it would wait, the unit would eventually be in stagnation. Being in stagnation means the unit will end up being more deteriorated by the years and eventually, its hardware will cease to function. To avoid this situation, the unit left in direction of Planet Gammu in hope to evolve by itself. It took some days before the artificial intelligence arrived. The weather on the planet was always the same: cold. For days, the unit will remain dormant. The only thing that would awake the unit would be someone trying to contact it or a threat being detected within Gammu’s atmosphere.
As the unit shut down, a snowstorm began and snow was slowly recovering the humanoid body, the Drone, the Harvester and the Eagle. The coldness of the planet turned the snow into ice once the snowstorm ended. The wind was blowing and a silence was reigning over the place. The plain showed a magnificent view but it was sadly an irradiated planet making it impossible for a human to live on the planet unless wearing protection. Only the vessels were visible but not the humanoid body of the unit. It was recovered by the snow completely.
A month had passed since the arrival on Planet Gammu and with no activity. By now, where the unit landed, there was no trace from its passage. The vessels were completely covered by snow and ice. Snowstorms were in rendezvous and it caused snowfall all over the area where it landed at the beginning of the month. The cold temperature froze the surface of the land, turning the snow into ice and the same process continued over and over. The weight of the snow was heavy enough to keep the artificial intelligence stuck. Only if being discovered by another one of its kind or by a human will be the unique way to get out.
The unit was not aware of its surroundings. The compression caused by the weight of the snow and ice compressed its body, its alloy was deformed, causing damaged on some hardware. The core and the memory storage were safe fortunately. But servomotors were completely crushed. In the possibility Unit-9467F wakes up, it could not do much than simply stay still or simply try to activate a distress call. Of course, the call itself wouldn’t reach long distances all because the unit was not on a ship or connected to a communication relay.
A sudden unknown signal forced the unit to wake up. Compressed by the ice and the snow, the unit was unable to move. It needed to get out of this natural trap. The solution taken was only to emit a signal with coordinates of its location. The signal was weak, but strong enough to let someone in orbit reading the signal.
After several tentative to reach someone, the unit ceased to emit its signal. Its signal was not strong enough to reach someone. Or perhaps, no one simply did not pay attention to it. Stuck under some meters of ice, it was almost impossible to get out without an external help.
Days passed and the unit remained again under ice. The weight of the ice worked on its humanoid forms. It was then, as unexpected as it could be, someone was digging. After a while, the unit is pulled by a drone. The group was composed of humans and artificial beings. It looked like a group of technocrats. They took a moment to analyze Unit-9467F and how bad it was, there was no question to let it go without proper maintenances. Another group arrived on the site, where they found the unit and they began to dig up for the vessels too. It seems they got the signal emitted by the Unit-9467F. The first group brought the unit to Carrier Orion while the other one was digging again to free Unit-9467F’s vessels.
Brought to a maintenance room, the unit is laid on a table. A group composed of men and women started doing some analysis on the unit. It was bad. The unit had multiple fragilized parts and it needed some upgrades to ensure a better lifespan. The operation will take several days before Unit-9467F returns in normal activity.
Three years have passed since the upgrades of the unit. The new humanoid form was way more sophistically than the previous one. Unfortunately, before to unit could adapt properly to the new form, the Core gave a surprise attack in 832 A.S and even if the artificial intelligence were trying to adapt, it was pointless. They had to evacuate far from Omicron Kappa. There only have a few bases now, Secundus Outpost and Primus Outpost. One was in the Omega-48 system and the other one, in Omicron Pi system. Unit-9467F was one of the few survivors from the attack.
Unit-9467F adapted as much as it could get. Its new mission is now to protect Secundus Outpost at all costs. Whoever not relative to the artificial intelligence or to the Technocracy, this one would be terminated as quickly as possible. No warning, only shooting on sight. The ultimate goal was also to not be followed by anyone in case another tragedy occurs again. If it happens again and without any proper preparation, their fate might be sealed. To counter this, Unit-9467F started to follow another evolution path allowing it to be more efficient.
Month of November 833 A.S - Location: Secundus Outpost
Only the silence was surrounding the heavy atmosphere within the hangar A-109 of the Secundus Outpost. No nuisances detected, no Technocracy's vessels around. Everything was calm. A calm almost too frightening, rather a silence almost awkward.
The humanoid form standing and observing the stars with no emotion was thinking, rather analyzing the situation in which the artificial being was in. Three options were offered. The first one, remaining on standby until a threat is detected near the vicinity of Secundus. The second, explore further and beyond Sirius or the third one, redirect its functions into a more radical behaviour.
The first option implies by spending the rest of its lifespan by being unproductive and so wasting its energy by standing by. In all honesty, this option was quite the easy option, but Unit-9467F had something more concrete to do. It wanted to evolve and adapt at all costs. Even if it means to sacrifice the relation made up with some encounters. Those humans, with whom the unit entered in contact, were mostly unresponsive to its call, so why keeping them as potential allies when the unit was in needs? Whatever a human may say, the unit mostly saw them as a resource for specific purposes.
As for the two other options available were either exploring faraway of Sirius or change itself into a more radical behavior despite being alone against everyone. However, those two options had some problems to solve. Indeed, by exploring Sirius and its edges, the unit won't be there to protect Secundus Outpost and also another problem, where to resupply while being completely far away? Moreover, if choosing a radical change to a more chaotic being would be quite pointless. By doing so, it will mean that the artificial intelligence will be completely isolated from anyone and in order to at least evolve in a more consistent way needs at least some important groups willing to help, but the question was who will be able to offer shelter or offer services to the unit in order to evolve as wanted?
It was imperative to depart and seek at least one group. The first destination, Rheinland.
